Friday March 22ndThe food was excellent!The service was fast and friendly from all staff!The atmosphere was like awesome like I'm in Back to the Future or the 50's!We splurged!I got a 6oz steak and 2 eggs, added a 3rd egg. Medium well and over medium. With Mel's potatoes and biscuits and gravy.She got eggs Benedict with hashbrowns, and sourdough toast.We shared a 3 stack Ghirardelli chocolate chip pancakes ?And a chocolate malt with whipped cream! ?Everything was so delicious!The only thing I'll change next time is only order 1 extra pancake because they are so big!I'll order the hashbrowns instead of Mel's potatoes because they were really good!Probably pass on the biscuits and gravy since we weren't able to finish them.The water tasted good, too!These 2 workers stood out to us as excellent:Xavier, the serverAndMark the buss boyBoth did great, kept checking on us, and served with a smile!We looked forward to returning here and hope you will too.****2nd visit the next Friday March 29thWe chose the steak and eggs for 11.99 before 11amAnd the California omelet with sour cream and avocadoAnd share 1 pancakeIt was very delicious and our bill was under $32Everyone was nice. The cooks did great!Ken, the manager, was managing a good team!

The staff was exemplary and the service was very quick. However the food was very subpar. Imagine that you're at a super 8 motel breakfast bar. Burnt bacon, waffle not cooked in the middle, butter that never melted. So while I was impressed with the staff, I would not recommend eating here.

Ordered the basic Mel's burger. Asked the server for no cheese on the burger, and no butter on the bun due to dairy sensitivity (dry bun or just toasted is fine). She asked if I wanted no mayo? Not sure why, but I repeated: no butter. Burger came and was grilled with butter (and Parmesan cheese) on the bun. Fail. She never even came back to check on us. Not good service. Two stars because wife liked her omelette. Burger patty was actually pretty good too. Might come back only if we get a better server.
We used to love this Mel's. In the past year, under new management, it has gone to heck. The food isn't what it used to be. A lot of your servers left. There is one waitress that loves to chat with a table of guys and ignore other tables!! You have one fantastic waiter, Xavier!!! If he leaves, we would 't be back! .
