It was our first time in Kyoto Restaurant. We decided to explore other sushi restaurants, while the owners of our favorite spot were on vacation.
My husband ordered a Philadelphia roll and a New York roll. Simple rolls that tasted ok.
I tried the Rohnert Park roll and the Annie Special roll. Omg, it was bad. The rolls were extremely dry and lacked flavor. Basically bland, dry rolls and nothing else.
If you stick to simple rolls, they are more than likely going to taste ok, because it’s hard to mess up something simple. But do not order anything “complicated”, it’s not going to taste good.
Another complaint was cleanliness. There were ants on the table, little flies flying around, and the utensils were not clean. The table was very sticky, I couldn't even put my hands on it. Overall, this place really needs to improve its cleaning standards.
The service was mediocre as well.
Not coming back.

Fantastic food and super friendly service.
Very warm and welcoming, and a quick service. Food was the best Japanese food I’ve tried so far. The lady was so sweet, she gave me lots of candies, cuz I loved them.

Incredible lunch special of chicken teriyaki, soup, salad, rice, and California roll for only $12.25 every Tuesday through Friday 11:30 to 2:30. If I lived in the area, I would come here all the time. Very clean restaurant with a koi pond and authentic decor, friendly and fast service, and delicious food. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a fabulous meal at Kyoto Restaurant today.

I hadn’t been to Kyoto in years, but I was happy to discover that it’s still just as warm and welcoming as I remembered. It may not be cutting-edge in terms of food or décor, but it delivers exactly what you want in a neighborhood Japanese restaurant—reliable, comforting dishes served with care.
This is a family-run spot with consistently friendly service that makes you feel at home. I met a friend there last night—she lives in town but had never been. After our meal, she said she’d definitely be back.
We each had a cold Japanese beer served in a perfectly chilled mug—refreshing and a great pairing with our food. I had the salmon teriyaki dinner, which came with miso soup, salad, and rice. Everything was satisfying and just right.
After too many years away, it was a joy to return to Kyoto. I won’t wait so long next time.

During a recent family vacation to Rohnert Park, we had the opportunity to dine at Kyoto Restaurant. Regrettably, our experience did not meet expectations.
From the outset, the service was notably lacking in professionalism. A senior staff member—an older Asian woman, possibly the manager or owner—displayed a level of impatience and inflexibility that made our visit uncomfortable. She insisted on specific seating arrangements without regard for our preferences, and her overall demeanor was curt and unaccommodating.
This behavior persisted throughout our meal, resulting in a dining atmosphere that felt tense and unwelcoming. Unfortunately, this significantly detracted from our overall experience.
The quality of the food was also underwhelming. Having come from San Francisco, where the culinary standards are notably high, we found the dishes to be lacking in flavor and presentation.
While we understand that every establishment can have an off day, the combination of discourteous service and subpar food left us disappointed. Based on this experience, we would not be inclined to return or recommend Kyoto Restaurant to others.
I can't believe I haven't left a review before now! We've been coming here for years, and Annie is one of the most sweetest people we've met! Food is always sooo good and the atmosphere is great for a date night, or just lunch with the girls. Everyone is so kind, we enjoy every time we have dinner there. Thank you Kyoto!
I have been supporting this local iconic restaurant for over 20 years now; great food, friendly staff and affordable prices.
Definitely my favorite spot for Japanese cuisine 😋
I had the poke salad. It was very tasty and there was plenty of diced ahi. My friend had one of the bento boxes. There was plenty of food and the price was very reasonable.
