If you want to grab quick onigiri, you must try this place! I'm impressed with their onigiri, very tasty, and wanting endless bite! Not only did the place have good food but 2 staff's were great and gave the customers top notch service! I will come back here again for sure and definitely recommend fans of onigiri lovers!

So happy that a legit onigiri shop is back in sgv! Every single onigiri is thoughtfully made and soooo delicious. We love everything but particularly cannot get enough of the shiitake :)) There's not a lot of onigiri shops around so we're super thankful Mogu Mogu exists.

Their hours are a little weird though, seems like they're only open for lunch even though it could be like the coolest after-school snack hangout. Whatever. It's totally worth skipping work for haha. We've tried the other onigiri stores and Mogu Mogu onigiris is hands down the best. They just hit different. I feel like other places use some assembly line method to just fill the insides, but Mogu Mogu was like hell no and gave us onigiris fit for a king, with cool combinations and sauces and all. I would eat here every day if I could!

Was here Saturday afternoon after reading all the nice reviews. I ordered the 3 pc large combo with pork belly, spam and egg, and fried chicken and my wife had the 2 pc combo with eggplant and ama miso. Both combos also came with 2 pc kaarage and a soda. The rice was perfectly cooked, slightly al dente just the way we liked. The slow cooked pork belly was tender and the spicy miso flavor was not spicy but tasty. The spam egg was slightly sweet with just the right amount of sauce. The kaarage as previous Yelpers have mentioned is really juicy inside and yet crunchy outside. My wife also enjoyed the grilled ama miso, offered a slight crunch in every bite. The eggplant was slightly undercooked but still very good.

I’m so happy to have come across Mogu Mogu Onigiri Shop in Rosemead. They offer Japanese comfort food. It is located at the corner of Walnut Grove Ave and Hellman Ave. Parking lot is a bit small but there is street parking nearby.
Pork Belly or Buta Kakuni is definitely my favorite! Great flavor and the green onion gives it just the right amount of texture . The fried chicken or kaarage came with a dipping sauce and they complemented each other perfectly. The Shiitake dashi onigiri combines the earthy, umami flavor of shiitake mushrooms with perfectly seasoned rice. Will be back very soon.

Overpriced and the portions are small. They also don't take cash. I don't recommend this place to anyone who is of working class. The people coming here will probably be Tesla drivers or middle class people.

Satisfying! My recent visit to Mogu Mogu Onigiri in Rosemead was a pleasant surprise! They serve authentic Japanese comfort food. From their scrumptious kaarage to their salmon onigiri, there are quite a few items to choose from. I opted for the 2pc combo, salmon grilled onigiri 4/5 and mentaiko onigiri 5/5. The combo also includes 2 pc (decent size) kaarage 5/5 and a can of soda.

My friend tried and liked this place, so I gave it a try too. They have a slightly different take on onigiri from what I'm used to. Instead of having a small bit of the filling encapsulated in the very center of the rice, Mogu Mogu cuts the center of the rice triangle and stuffs it with the filling, like a hotdog in a hotdog bun.

The salmon onigiri doesn't have any filling as the salmon is integrated into the rice itself as a mixture,so every bite has salmon.

The spam/spam and egg "onigiris" are basically like a spam musubi.

The mentaiko one was super flavorful and is my favorite of the 3 meat-based flavors I tried. The karaage one was really good too and I like the crunchy/soft/moist texture of it. The braised pork belly was a bit dry to me and I would have liked more sauce, but the raw chives had a nice spicy flavor contrast with the savory/sweet pork.

I would come back again for sure, but do note they have limited hours of operation (as of 2024/07/14), it took 5-10 minutes to prepare 6 onigiris, and the free parking lot only has 1 entrance/exit. There are 4-5 dining tables available inside for sit-down.

Went in for the soft opening and was so happy to see familiar faces from the previous Onigiri-ya. For those who don't know, the head chef and owner (co-owner of the former Ji-chan) used to work at the former Ji-Chan's Onigiri-ya. Even though I placed an online order, my items were sold out. However, they refunded my order and comped me a free karaage as a compensation. This is how you earn customers! I will be back!

Parking: They have a shared parking lot, but really hard to find spaces.
