I ordered the Taiwanese sizzling steak with black pepper sauce, and it took me on a trip down memory lane to one of the Taiwanese night markets. The steak was juicy and tender, placed atop spaghetti noodles on a sizzling iron plate covered in the black pepper sauce, which added a flavorful but subtly spicy kick. Additionally, I added some ketchup to the spaghetti for a sweet and tangy flavor (optional and rooted in childhood nostalgia). The pig's blood rice cake was a bit on the dry side.I'd recommend sticking to the sizzling steak, as it appears to be their specialty.Service was excellent!

Chiou House is a great Taiwanese restaurant. From the Hot sizzling plates with black pepper or mushroom sauce to oyster omelette to their bento style dishes are awesome. Prices on all the food have great value except for the corn. The cob of corn is on the pricey side. I like coming here. The place is small, the service is good and ambiance is cool. I would recommend others to try. 4.4.4.5 stars.

Located in a small and tight corner shopping plaza or Fullerton and Colima. The restaurant is a bit dark but with good natural lighting. The restroom could use a little work on cleaning. They have a broad selections on the menu. The pricing on rice platter is today's average, around $12, which also includes a black tea. Their steak menu is about $22 and up. The portion is good to fill you. I ordered a popcorn chicken rice platter, the side dishes are decent. Nothing was skimmed. The simmered soy sauce pork on top of the rice was not too salty. The chicken tasted fresh, without too much flaked batter. The seatings are well spaced out, that you don't feel crammed. The service was friendly and prompt.Overall. This is a solid 4.2 out 5. Will visit again for sure.

I remember when Chiou House used to be a Vietnamese pho restaurant many years ago, but had not heard of Chiou House until recently as we do not frequent this plaza. We phoned in our order as they had just opened and it was ready within the time frame provided. 1. Deep Fried Oyster $9.952. Basil Popcorn Chicken $8.453. Fried Boneless Pork Chop $9.95We did not know there was a "promotion" until after I had paid, so it was too late, but maybe next time. Sign at the cash register:"Spent $40 (before tax) same day on each visit, get a raffle for a free itemOne of the following items will be picked up:A. Sizzling Chicken SteakB. Charbroiled Sausage Rice ComboC. Fried Boneless Pork ChopD. Popcorn ChickenE. Sweet Potato FriesF. Crispy TofuThis activity is not for credit card purposes. We reserve all the right for the final explanation."The taste of the appetizers were delicious but the prices were high for the amount given. The interior is a bit on the darker side. Traditional Taiwanese dishes are served here, which is rarity these days. We will probably return when we get cravings. My experience with service was brief, but they did answer the phone quickly and answered any questions we had. Parking can be a bit difficult as there are limited parking spots for the amount of stores here in this plaza.

The portion of the food and the price of it does not match. I ordered fried squid, and with tax it was almost $9, and there were only 8 pieces of squid in that box. Moreover, each piece was the size of my pinky. It was placed on a thick layer of cabbage, it really looks like leftovers that they just got from other customers dining in. I didn't realize until we got home and open the bag. Is there a difference in terms of portion just because of we ordered to-go?

Night market steak is okay, the sauce isn't pretty close to the flavor. The portion is close to taiwan's so it makes the price become overpriced.Service is good tho.

5 stars. Comfort food done right. As a Taiwanese American, I'm a little biased towards Taiwanese food, but this place was actually so good. They have a lot of the Taiwanese classics, and their portion sizes are so good. I ordered the popcorn chicken bento and I was extremely satisfied after the meal. The popcorn chicken was fried well and was well seasoned. The side dishes provided a nice balance to the whole meal, offering a variety of flavors in every bite. The bento also comes with a herbal tea that they brew, and it tasted light and refreshing. The group of friends I came with never had Taiwanese food and I was proud to have introduced them to it. I ordered a stinky tofu for the table and I made my friends try it. The stinky tofu wasn't stinky enough in my opinion, but it was still really tasty and well fried. The service was also really good. The waiters did only speak to me in mandarin, but they were super friendly. Overall, I would highly recommend checking this place out if you want some authentic Taiwanese food.

Loved their Taiwanese night market style sizzling steak, which I don't think is easy to find these days. The steak came with an egg, pasta, corn soup and a complementary black or green tea of your choice (but you can't choose how you like your steak cooked) Plus, they have a big menu. For example, stinky tofu (and even bbq stinky tofu) braised pork rice, beef noodle soup, herbal pork rib soup, mutton hot pot, and so many Taiwanese street food items that you would not normally find at other restaurants. Bonus: they also sell bentos at very reasonable prices! Most importantly, the flavors were authentic. Service was friendly and fast. Will be back soon! Pro tips: For the sizzling steak, ask for both black pepper and mushroom sauces. My go-to is the black pepper sauce. Would recommend adding some ketchup to your pasta and steak. (Yes, Taiwanese style) SO GOOD!

We arrived right at 5pm and placed an order to go. Wait time was about 20-30 minutes for the to-go order. We tried the kimchi dumpling, pork and chive dumplings, scallion pancake, pork cutlet, pork long bao, and minced pork noodle. The food was very good, but on the pricier side for the amount of food you receive. We were told they would text us when our order was ready, but we never received a text. By 5:30 the in-person wait time there was already 1 hour.

So glad I found this place! Brings up great memories from Taiwan. The night market steak can be hit or miss tho... Sometimes the meat is tender and tasty, sometimes the steak is overcooked and stiff. They also have other great dishes like pork's hoof noodles, lamb carosole... Etc also great memories from Taiwan. There is one draw back that there isn't a great selection of vegetarian dishes.

The kind of food I love. This restaurant serves authentic Taiwanese food and is known for its steak on a sizzling plate. If you haven't had this style of food, i recommend trying at least once. This style of cooking is popular in Taiwan and is often seen in night markets. I also recommend trying the chicken steak. It is tender and flavorful just like the beef.I haven't had this kind of food in years because I didn't think this type of restaurant survived the pandemic. I'm glad to have found this place today. Highly recommend!
