Zhangliang Spicy Hotpot (Rowland Heights)

AUTOCHARGED ME 20% gratuity for 1 bowl, before I could even press any custom option for tip, which made my 1.47 pound bowl cost almost $30... Keep in mind that the advertised price is supposed to be $13.99 per pound. They didn't even allow me to get my receipt.

Restroom was also disgusting, with no toilet paper or paper towels. Food selection was also not the best, but average with a wide selection of items. Some items however, like the mini sausages were still frozen though with ice particles around them. I usually love Zhangliang Malatang but I would avoid staying away from this location.

We are muslim couples came to dine at this place, when we order our food with non-pork ingredients, they served us with pork sausages which is something we didn’t order. Server guy or owner wasn’t humble enough to make a refund or not even ask the cook on the back if anything was mixed up.

Malatang is savory and good, but not exactly the Mala spicy soup you would traditionally expect. It has its own taste.

Food was amazing but the staff needs to work on their manners. They don’t welcome you in and don’t talk to you unless you do. It’s like their mute or something.

The bowl is so LARGE. It has so much options to choose. So much different kind of Noodles, meatballs, spicy beef, good cut of beef, lamb, spam, tons of veggies. Sauce is FREE. 5-6 kind of soup to choose. My favorite one is tomato soup. It's so delicious. Thank you. Its $25, but tbh my bowl can feed me 3 meals lol. $14 per lbs.

We came here to eat with two friends at three o'clock in the afternoon on December 26. The waiter was a tall, thin man wearing glasses. He had a strange attitude when he first ordered the pot base. After setting the tableware and serving the dishes, he ignored us. , we needed to add water in the middle but no one cared about it. (There was only one other table besides us at that time, and they were not busy)
But this is not a problem. After eating, when we went to the front desk to check out, he didn't know where he went. We stood and waited for about 5 minutes before he came out. My friend didn't leave a tip after paying because the service was really bad. After seeing that my friend didn't leave a tip, the waiter became anxious and started yelling at us, swearing, and threatening my other friend and I to tip him. I was shocked at the time. I had never seen such an unreasonable and disgusting person in my life. I have eaten at Zhangliang Malatang many times, and the service attitude has been very good every time. Only this time I met this disgusting person. I will never come again

12/26 3pm I came here to eat with 2 other friends. The server was a tall thin guy with glasses. When we were ordering our soup base the server already had a weird attitude. After placing down our utensils and food he never said another word to us. When we needed water he's nowhere to be found.(there was only one other table besides us. They were no busy at all)
But that wasn't the issue. After eating we went to the counter to pay. He was nowhere to be found and we stood there and waited him for 5 minutes for him to appear. My friend finished paying and didn't leave him a tip cuz we weren't satisfied with the service. After seeing my friend didn't tip him the server immediately snapped. He started yelling and cursing at my friend, then even proceeded to threaten me and my other friend to tip him. I was stunned. In my entire life I've never met someone this disrespectful and disgusting. I've been to this ZhangLiang location multiple times and I had amazing experiences and fantastic servers. The server we had this time is truly disgusting and awful. I will never visit this location again

First time coming here and the staff was super helpful. The broth was savory and delicious. There are plenty of meat, seafood, veggie, and noodle options (overloaded my bowl for sure). Everything had amazing flavor. I can see why this place is highly rated. I’d definitely come back!

I'm sorry to say I was quite happy with my food until I found a DEAD INSECT in it. By that time, I had pretty much finished it. When I went up to the counter, all the staff told me was " Oh we are so sorry", didn't even offer a refund.

Also the bok choy in the container was dirty, clearly haven't been washed.

Insects were found in the soup, and the vegetable box was not cleaned and there were stains on it. I told the store and only got an apology and no action. I felt that it was incomprehensible and I had already finished the whole portion. It was actually quite disgusting.
