Went to Midoh in Rowland Heights today after finding out Umi Buffet was closed due to a power outage. Since it was already in my bookmarks, I decided to give it a try. Ordered the tonkatsu loin, hamburg steak spicy curry rice, karaage, and takoyaki. Everything was delicious and extremely well‑flavored. A solid spot for comforting Japanese dishes.
I’ve had only four dining experience at this place over 8 years, and each time it blew my mind away, and I don’t know why I didn’t go as often. The most recent experience is a little sad because they got ride of the tv that shows classic Hayao Miyazaki Animes. And the last time I went there was before covid, I think they have different cooks too, because the curry is so much thicker and I’m not a big fan of that.

The menu has a lot of variety, but what really stood out was how everything tasted homemade and thoughtfully prepared. I ordered the Japanese curry with cheese, tofu, and fried eggplant. The curry had a rich, thick consistency that tasted like it had been simmering all day rather than coming from a standard curry block.
