We thoroughly enjoyed our retrospective decade tasting with Ryan G. He shared his in-depth knowledge of the history of the winery and the wine, and their legacy. He made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Flowers were still blooming in the garden area, too, even though we visited in late October. This tasting was the highlight of our trip to the region (except the balloon ride was awesome, too!). We were happy to order selections we tasted and a few more. Thank you, Ryan!
Great experience. I prefer more muted old world style wines and this winery delivers on that note. The woman performing our tasting experience was excellent and very knowledgeable about various wines and styles as well as showing us a topographic map of the region and explaining the different terroirs of the wine region. We actually arrived about 2hrs before our reservation but they were generously able to accommodate us instead of turning us away which was very nice. They also credit your tasting if you buy wine from them and you can't lose on that when you taste several bottles and get to pick what you really like. We didn't have space but they also offer bites to eat which is also nice and the property is very beautiful and clean.
Still didnt come, but loved to, one day
Beautiful grounds, well manicured landscape. It’s a gorgeous place to walk around. Wine was just ok.
I love that they accept walk-ins and how delicious the wine is. Very lovely patio to have a glass or two and a charcuterie cheese board. The Chardonnay is very light and no acidic undertones. The Cabernet has a Bordeaux taste and souped exceptional. Very friendly service too. Highly recommend.
Honestly I am sad to write this seeing the wonderful experiences folks with reservations have had.
On Friday, October 4, 2024, my friends took my wife and I on a day trip to Napa. We had a few hours between reservations and stopped at Grgich Hills as I had fond memories of their wines. Clearly the stop was a mistake. A woman "greeted" us in a hostile manner and advised that typically they only take reservations. When we pushed back that they literally had a "Walk Ins Welcome" sign up, she stated that the reservation policy was due to the number of available hosts. We were asked if we wanted to do a full tasting, but we did not have the time for that between our already scheduled stops. Since that didn't get rid of us, the woman eventually conceded we could taste by the glass or by the bottle, which we agreed to. Upon saying we would do a by the glass tasting, she then warned that this was only an option if there was an available host and left the desk to investigate.
Shortly thereafter we were seated and our male host plunked down the by the glass menus with no explanation. We ordered three glasses, one of which was the Posic - the extent of the explanation re the varietal and vinification was that it was Croatian and we couldn't get it anywhere else. Fine, we can google spec sheets. The final insult was when the wine was delivered - two glasses in the host's hands, one clutched between his arm and chest near his armpit. I cannot conceive how this was not intentional as I have quite literally never been served a beverage in this manner even in the diviest of dive bars, and in my FOH days would have been summarily fired if I had attempted such a maneuver. We cashed out as quickly as possible and left. I had intended to buy wine but was no longer interested in financially supporting the business. Incredibly disappointing.
Did a tasting with girlfriends as part of a girls trip and Grgich was in the top three for vineyards we visited (and we did a lot of visiting!). My husband and I have been wine club members for years but since we live on the East Coast, I had never visited. They went all out for my visit with a personalized tasting packet. Myles was the most accommodating and knowledgeable wine educator and just a joy to talk to during the experience. He went above and beyond with the wine selections. We felt like VIPs! There is such an interesting history to this winery and whether you are a red or white drinker, you will find something you love!!
A Napa classic -- Grgich is one of the iconic wineries of the valley, and getting to explore their history and style through the wines is excellent. Their wines are more European in style than most of their neighbors, so it's a perfect counterpoint to the "how much oak and alcohol can we jam in the bottle" style of modern winemaking, instead showcasing balance and food friendliness. Absolutely worth a stop if you're into food and wine pairing, as you'll be sure to find something fun to pair with your next special meal.
Julia the best!!! Thank you for help us have a great experience
We stopped in here last minute before a reservation at another wineery. We didn’t have a reservation at Grgich but we were seated by Paola immediately. Paola was knowledgeable, bubbly and kind! We ordered the Cabernet Franc and the Essence Sauvignon Blanc by the class. Loved both but we ended up buying two bottles of the Cab Franc to take home! We will definitely be returning, it was a very pleasant and peaceful experience.

not great, seems like the winery is riding off the success of the past and lacks compared to competitors. service was nowhere near expectation. also the highway basically in the estate i thought i was at an f1 race.
Good wine and beautiful location!
What a fabulous experience! This vineyard was by far my favorite of all the ones I visited. Myles was excellent—his knowledge and enthusiasm made the visit truly memorable. I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend the day.
The wines were top-tier, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a standout vineyard experience.
Amazing experience! Delicious wine! Incredible history! Wonderful staff! Thank you Rob, Paola and Veronica!
The wines are amazing. There is a soul in this place, there is a soul in their wines. It’s not about commercial. That was the best of our tastings in Napa, thank you.
