This was my first time at this restaurant and I didn’t have such a great experience the service was lousy at first I felt the cashier had an attitude I tried not let it bother me. When I took my phone out to unlock my card he asked if I was doing credit card fraud which made me feel uncomfortable ( I don’t know if that place gets hit up for credit card fraud a lot) but he shouldn’t generalize and make people feel uncomfortable lastly the food wasn’t all that great. I won’t be returning here again and hopefully I can a better falafel place with better food and better service!

Just tried for the first time, had it delivered. Food was fantastic! Perfect lamb steak gyro with plenty of meat, the spice is a nice touch. Best dolmades I've had in a while. Will definitely get food here again. Very happy I found this place.

Damn. Good stuff right here. Stopped in for some lunch between jobs today, had the lamb gyro and fries. This place is basically an indoor food truck... They do a few items, and they are all the bombdotcom. Nice seating area next to a park outdoors, and the food was fantastic. Super nice staff as well. This will be one of my must-go-to spots when I'm in the Sacto area.

Large amount of food, average taste/quality and still pretty expensive. Shared 1 veggie gyro + 1 lamb gyro combo meal w can of coke + fries = $28. Smashed falafel in the veggie gyro didn't have any crispy edges but tasted okay. Lamb tastes like most I've tried in the city--bland and a little dry. Soft, mealy fries. I did like the fluffy bread. Polite guy at the counter. Bathroom had soap and water and paper towels. Sorry to say the most memorable part was how sticky the counters and tables were. The day a gyro/doner restaurant in Sacramento cooks on a spit and shaves it to order will be the day I rave about the meat.

I’ve been here for lunch a few times. The mixed plates and salads are really tasty and have good flavor. I think the prices are fair and have a decent amount of food. I appreciate that everything I’ve tried has been consistently good so far. I’ll definitely come back and try more of the menu.

Great shawarma! The service was great, and they were vey kind.
I just wish the “spicy” option was hotter. Great seasoning, tasted amazing, I was just hoping for a little more heat. 5 stars! Definitely go with the “spicy” option and maybe ask for some extra spicy if you want a kick.

The food quality has changed recently. Salad portions are getting smaller and the meat is burned!

Well it was definitely not worth it. Food is super fat, oily, oversalted. I tried gyros in Greece, Cyprus, Ukraine? Germany, Russia. This was the worst. It’s still edible but to call it “the best gyros” is a bit too much.
Also it is far too hot inside, there’s no ac. Feels uncomfortable and dirty. Won’t recommend.

Great food, great location, and wonderful staff. I've been eating at Ace's since they've opened and I must say, I am never disappointed. The owner and his wife are very nice and welcoming people, and their service is always on point. If you haven't been, this establishment is an absolute must. Try the Lamb Steak Gyro!

5 Stars – Absolutely Phenomenal Lamb Steak Plate!

I had lunch at Ace's Gyro Shack today, and let me just say—this was one of the best lamb steak plates I’ve ever had.

From the moment the plate was served, I could tell I was in for something special. The lamb steak was perfectly grilled—tender, juicy, and bursting with rich, savory flavor. It had just the right amount of char to give it that smoky, mouthwatering aroma without overpowering the natural taste of the meat. Every bite was a masterclass in how lamb should be cooked: succulent inside, seared outside, and seasoned to perfection.

The plate came with a generous portion of fluffy, aromatic rice that soaked up the lamb juices like a dream. The pita bread was soft and warm, ideal for scooping up the meat and rice together. And let’s not forget the tzatziki sauce—creamy, refreshing, and garlicky, providing the perfect cool contrast to the bold flavors of the lamb.

What really sealed the experience for me was the attention to detail and freshness in every component. Even the side salad was crisp and vibrant, not an afterthought like at so many other spots.

The staff were friendly, efficient, and clearly take pride in what they serve. You can tell this isn’t fast food—it’s food made with care and authenticity.

If you're a lamb lover or just craving something flavorful and filling, do yourself a favor and try the lamb steak plate at Ace's Gyro Shack. You won’t be disappointed.

Highly recommended. Will definitely be back!
