So I'm sad to post a negative review because I've been here before and my experience was pretty good, but its been pre covid since I've been, and it's gone significantly downhill. Gnocchi was terrible, loaded with bacon fat, and literally no taste other than bacon. Risotto was undercooked and very watery. Sad, because I love a good Risotto. We ordered a salad as an appetizer, only to find out later we all got a side salad. Would have been nice if the service had been better and told us, we would just have ordered another appetizer. Not to mention the salad was supposed to come with candied pecans, which really adds to the flavor. They forgot to put them on. When I asked about it they made a lame excuse that sometimes they substitute nuts, which they didn't. Any service worth their weight would apologize, offer something else, or remove it from the bill. What a waste. The polenta with meatballs was absolutely tasteless. Sad, because polenta can be a real treat. This was not.
:( My friend normally cleans his plate but he left half his noodles saying they were overcooked. Calamari appetizer was sooooo chewy, with few pieces of calamari, but mostly potatoes, and over garlic ed. And their configuration makes it sooooo loud, you cannot even hear your tables conversation. They brought us someone else's bill, then 2 servers brought us our bill minutes apart. Then minutes apart they both brought us our receipt. Poor communication on their part. And lastly it felt like they were rushing us out of there. Their pace for our meal was terribly rushed where we had to actually say something. Just a really poor experience all the way around. Pretty sure after this poor meal for all 5 of us that we will take our business elsewhere.
We enjoyed every minute of our visit.
Very discriminative behaviour at the reception ! Almost disgusting !
Amazing pasta.
The atmosphere was great and the service was fine but The food was just okay it wasn't bad by any means but I had high expectations. I had the Salmon Piccata and it was good particularly the salmon. But my girlfriend got the Chicken Alfredo and the sauce was very lackluster but the chicken was cooked perfectly. We both weren't a fan of the salad or the bread served but All in all we had a great night though.
I recently took the pasta making class as part of an office team-building event, and we had the best time! John led the class and was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable, he answered all of our questions and even quizzed us on Italian trivia while we made tortelloni. Cooking, wine (local Italian wines), and dessert were all included.
Whether you're thinking about taking the class or just eating dinner, I can’t recommend Adamo’s enough. You're going to love it!
Adams’s is a real culinary nugget. We just found it by chance and we’re glad we did. Our pasta dishes were the best we’ve had in a long, long time. Absolutely delicious, the pasta cooked perfectly al dente, the sauces rich and filled with flavor. The salads that came with the entree were a bit weak, with about three drops of dressing on each. The garlic bread was tough and dry. But service was outstanding. The room is tiny and very noisy, not our cup of tea, but it was jam-packed with locals. Hence, with all that, four stars, rather than five. But oh, the food! We would go there again in a heartbeat - alas, we live out of state and would visit Sacramento again, or any big city, only at gunpoint. I’d love to have their recipes.
We had an incredible meal. John, the owner is brilliant. The pasta was exquisite. Recommend the pasta making class is well worth it. We’ll be back!
I ordered the Salmon Piccata, my GF ordered the Carbonara, we got Tiramisu for dessert, and Arincini for the appetizer. All four were pretty bad.
The Tiramisu was a textural trainwreck with way too much cream, and the lady fingers were whole wheat with a bad mix of soggy and lumpy/grainy.
The Carbonara was a runny mess and tasted like old egg and off cheese, just looked soupy and had bad flavor.
The Salmon Piccata was extremely lemony, like way overpowering, and the amount of capers was way overboard. I was choking it down, making sour faces until i realized most of the bitter acrid flavor was those capers.
The Arancini was just flavorless on the inside and the crust.. the sauce was great, but you really had to mop it up to make a good bite.
If you go here, I suggest sticking to the Bolognese or Spaghetti Meatballs or the side plate/entrees that arent pasta. Or at least not the carbonara and the salmon piccata. Really bad.
Service was great though.
Dined in about a month ago and the food/service was very good. However, over the weekend my husband and I ordered food to go. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and was disappointed when I got home and opened the box. The amount of pasta was extremely little compared to when I dined in. Paying $20 for this plate was a little frustrating.

Adamo's is the closest you can get to authentic Italian food in Sacramento, I know people will argue with me but I will hold my ground. My wife had an Italian exchange student who ate there and said this is the same as in Italy. I would wholeheartedly agree…
Update - we've now been to their wine tastings and attended the gnocchi class. We're so very fortunate to have a local eatery like Adamo's so close by!!

Not the usual experience tonight. Reservation was lost, but thankfully they had a table for us. Salmon picata, risotto and ravioli were delicious. Salad was fresh and a nice portion. Disappointed when we saw $1 on the bill for a side of parmesan cheese. A mixed dining experience tonight.

This place has outstanding food, great service, and even better wine. They always have seasonal Italian dishes with an artisan flair of creativity. Don't miss out on the bruschetta and try everything you can from the kitchen. The owner is kind and gentle and has amazing stories.

Well-dressed caprese salad tasted so fresh. Side salad was also great. The $23 carbonara plate had chunks of cheese that would have made the sauce less runny if it was cooked in, but tasted pretty good. Regular garlic bread. Tiramisu was more cream than custard. Good pilsners on tap. Service had really good timing. Definitely would return for a salad.

We found Adamo’s Kitchen from visiting the Adamo Winery in Lucca, Italy, so we made arrangements to go to and take their pasta class in Sacramento. John and Jonas were so great, not only with the set up and class, but John kept the group entertained with a trivia game in Italian locations, events and history. The cooking class with five different wines and full lunch we made was only $120 per person, which was even more reasonable than some we’ve taken in Italy.
The wines of the Adamo Winery were served, and when we finished making our gnocchi, we had the full meal eating our own work as our main course. The antipasto trays and salad and dessert of cannoli made this experience so fun and worthwhile.
The Adamo Winery sells most of their wines only on site in Lucca, and John sells and serves their wines at his restaurant. We even bought a case of wine to go as the prices were so good and much more reasonable than shipping from the winery in Lucca.
You can’t go wrong with his family recipes.
We’ll be back, and recommend to friends and family whenever they may be in or passing through Sacramento to go to this nice Italian spot for a nice meal.
Thanks for a good time for ourselves and our New Jersey friends who joined us.
