Bento Box | Fair Oaks

I am in the restaurant now. My bill was $28.28. That was for Sesame chicken side salad California rolls and tempura. The lowlight was the tempura. It was no good. Tempura batter should be super light with the stress on the vegetables or the shrimp. This tempura had a lot of batter in it and very small amounts of vegetable. The broccoli pieces were really tiny. The other vegetables were sliced really thin. The slim pieces of shrimp were surrounded by thick batter. The salad and the chicken and the rice were fine. The California roll pieces – four of them – were made with that crap salad rather than the pieces of imitation crab that I like. When I went to get a to go box for my four pieces of chicken and the rice that I could not finish, the guy wanted to charge me for a little to go container of teriyaki sauce. There were about 100 of them stacked up right next to us. They do not have beer. And it is a Pepsi place not a Coke place. I won’t be back.

The food here is simply delicious!!! This is the first location where I experienced Bento Box. When I approached the counter, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. I had the teriyaki chicken bento with California Roll. The chicken was tender and flavorful. the portion was large. The teriyaki sauce was balanced and smooth. I will definitely go back.

They like to play different versions of feliz navidad on repeat. Very festive and great bento box options of course 😀

Please explain the point of a combination Bento box, where I was upcharged for both proteins? What was the combination price for then?

The sashimi portion and quality was quite good and generous. Restaurant temperature was cozy. Ultra casual, service was polite, place was clean.

Will go to Midtown location in the future for a $105.00 spent not very good Hot tea cold Food cold sushi rolls better at Midtown. Staff and service very nice. I HAVE TO EDIT my review dont get me wrong food was good and I believe it isn't fare to to criticize IF I DIDN'T say anything to staff NOT fair so I just want to say it wasn't as bad I'm enjoying left over noodle soup today and thank you Bento box for management for addressing my review. I will come back and I wish you served the sizzling teriyaki plate. It's ok again staff very friendly and I didn't give them a chance to correct my issues (minor)

I was apprehensive but they proved me wrong. It's hard to get lunch for precovid prices. Those days are gone. This place gives you plenty of yummy food... We had Korean chicken plus sushi roll.

I ordered a teriyaki beef bento box. Everything was fine until I tasted the beef. It tasted old and tough! It tasted horrible. I only had a few bites and I just couldn’t force myself to eat it . I took it inside and asked if I could switch it out for some chicken . I didn’t ask for my money back. I simply was just unhappy with the meat. He said because I ate some of he wasn’t going to replace it! I was stunned at the poor customer service he provided! So unhappy. Crazy thing I’ve been eating from there for years. After today’s experience I won’t ever go back, and I don’t recommend them. So unhappy.

This is the first location where I experienced Bento Box and even though I’ve been to the other locations I would recommend others to come to this one, yes the location in downtown sac is great and beautiful but the food doesn’t taste the same. They have always been so helpful here with what you order and I would come back here everyday if my diet and pocket permitted it! It doesn’t 😓. So yeah come here and eat pretty much whatever you like and odds are you will come back for more just like me.

Never again at Bento Box at Loehman’s Plaza. I asked for extra sauce for the teriyaki chicken in the combination plate. First it was annoying being charged for sauce when historically, they never give enough sauce to begin with & this time the chicken was dry. Being charged for the sauce, I complained to the manager, BRUCE who said this is how the chicken is made and went on and on and on about how it is not the staff’s fault. I finally had to stop him and reminded him that it is only about the sauce. BRUCE was defensive, obviously upset, and finally I had to repeat myself…it’s only about the sauce (I was thinking calm down). I only want more sauce for the dry chicken and why are you charging me? This nickel and diming for sauce is irritating, then when I told the manager to stop talking bc it is only about the sauce, and I really want to be left alone to eat, BRUCE threatened to 86 me. What? I will 86 myself! This manager is nuts. Second, I could not get pass the sauce & dry chicken issue to talk about the dry burnt pieces of beef that looked and tasted like left over waste. For all you folks who’s irritated about costly sauce and rude treatment, I recommend Makisu Sushi on Fair Oaks, who will give you plenty of sauce.

The teriyaki was bad tooo much sauce tasted burnt and the gentleman was rude 😤 told him and he didn't want to give us a little discount
Won't be going back the service was terrible my friend raved about it and we were very disappointed 😔

I ordered a veggie tofu bowl that barely had any vegetables: 3 tiny slices of carrot and a little bit of broccoli. Mostly rice. Ridiculous. I won’t order again from this place
