I love this place & I am sooo sad to see this place close!!! Delicious sandwiches & one of the best restaurants in Sacramento! I love their hot prawn sandwich and Stacie favorite which is the salmon sando. I'm definitely going to miss this place. Where am I supposed to get delicious prawn or salmon sandwiches now?! :( Thank you to the chef for the wonderful food over the years. This restaurant will definitely be missed from all of Sacramento. Good luck and enjoy retirement! **It has been announced that this place is permanently closed on their Facebook page 1/8/2020.

Cafe Rolle left a lasting impression after my one-and-only visit. A simple red awning with elegant white lettering hangs above a seemingly-basic white-tiled building. A row of diners sit at petite square tables as server dots between them all. The interior is a decoratively-busy tight space covered end-to-end with glossy tables each with postcards and photos under clear glass. Dark blue and orange walls showcase a plethora of French advertisements for food, beverages, and photos of Paris' streets. The kitchen can be seen at the back thanks to a half-wall that comes up waist-high. Silver tables hold trays of just-baked bread, plates and bowls are visibly stacked on shelves, a meat slicer and mixture sit at the corner, a few refrigerators stand guard at the back, and the door to the walk-in freezer is off to the right. Rapidly navigating the space is a small assortment of staff in all-black attire, with the head chef easily noted thanks to his black chef's hat. It's all brightly lit thanks to the large window at the front letting in a healthy amount of light, as well as additional warm light casted from small spotlight-lamps and silver fans. A simple laminated menu holds a simple, yet numerous, selection of French-style salads, cold plates, hot plates, and desserts. Chilled salmon, pate, brie sandwiches, croque ham, hot lamb, the list goes on. After a good look over the menu, I decided on the hot duck pate sandwich, bottle of Orangina, chocolate mousse, and vanilla creme brûlée. Note: if you've not had Orangina, it's like a pleasant taste like that of citrus soda and orange juice. What came was next to heavenly. On a simple oval plate came a seemingly simple combination of roasted-n-sliced French baguette housing pale-brown pate and an off-white mixture of gruyere cheese and garlic mayo. On the side came a mixed green salad topped with some kind of mustard-like dressing on top. Warm, fresh, crispy, chewy, slightly salty, fatty, garlicky, somewhat nutty, richly cheesy, herby, buttery. Simply divine. Each bite an intense punch of rich flavor. Each bite leaving me joyfully eager for the next delicious slice. Each bite almost bringing tears to my eye...no joke. Who knew that four well-made components could merge together to form wonderfully vibrant experience. The salad was great, with a sweetly honey-mustard taste to it, but the sandwich easily prevented the salad from stealing the spotlight from it. For dessert, two ramekins each atop colorful small plates held more deceptively delicious goodies. The mousse: a milky-chocolate creation with ripples like a wrinkled forehead from when the mixture was poured before being baked. The creme brûlée: scorched sugar shielding soft, off-white, vanilla custard. Again with the simply wonderful experience of each bite. The mousse is a silky dance of richly intense, bittersweet, milky, chocolatey flavor that'd appease any lover of the sweet. And the creme brûlée has a wonderfully rich custard underneath the caramelized sugar that holds plenty of vanilla flavor throughout. I've eaten my weight, and beyond, in creme brûlées and this little one is definitely one of my favorites. While I could hope to visit it again, or find someplace like it, I simply believe there isn't any place like Cafe Rolle in Sacramento. Everything sang with deliciousness and it was a fun treat to see the head chef command the kitchen and fling out plates left and right for the bustling crowd. I easily give Cafe Rolle a fabulous 5.

So sad this place is now closed. They had the best sandwiches and dessert ever! I will miss this place so much and was definitely a gem in Sacramento. All the workers were great and will truly be missed. The owner left a goodbye voicemail and it brought me to tears! I hope he can enjoy his time! No place can ever beat Cafe Rolle!!

Have been coming to this place for approx. 5+ years now.. This place is still has best salmon sandwiches in town!!! In addition to their great price and great atmosphere!!! Tips: Got to get there before the lunch/dinner crowd if you do not want to have a long waiting time. Reason for 4.5 star: Parking lot is small and if you get there late, besides you will have to wait a long time for a table, you will have to look for parking around the neighborhood.

Top notch customer service, this sandwich that I had was awesome! Definitely coming back!

The food is very, very good. The restaurant is small but adequate. Service is very good. Located in a more residential area so parking is mostly on the street or in their small parking area in front.

Cafe Rolle has the absolute best hot sandwiches you are going to eat in Sacramento (and possibly planet earth). I've tried the ham, shrimp, salmon, and beef... every one served fresh on incredible house baked bread with the friendliest service imaginable. I may not be a certified international sandwich expert, but I've lived in three corners of the country, traveled around the world a few times, and Cafe Rolle remains one of my favorite sandwich spots.

Love this place have been going there to eat since 2013 when I was living in East Sacramento the food is great it's a small cafe and I really like the pate appetizer which I order every time I go in and the melted Brie atop baguettes with caramelized onions and French ham if you're into French food I definitely recommend this place it's magnifique

I've been visiting Cafe Rolle for years, usually on weekends. The atmosphere is busy and never dull. Lamb, Salmon, Duck..every sandwich I've had here is very flavorful and fresh. The service is impeccable. Don't forget to grab a sweet treat after your meal. Bon Apetit!
