Idk what happened to this place. I used to like it during the pandemic, but I ordered it tonight and the food was inedible. The sesame beef was mushy and was so salty I could not eat it. Threw $10 in the trash. They also do not give you fortune cookies on DoorDash orders 😭💔

I really like this place. It's been consistently good for a very long time. I just recently went after a few years hiatus and it's better than ever. Good old-fashioned American style Chinese food. Total comfort food! The house chow mein is amazing, they do not skimp on their meat! The honey shrimp is also amazing and I really like their house hot oil. Highly recommend coming here if you want Chinese food that tastes nostalgic. The prices are very affordable so it's a convenient place to get a meal for the whole family.

Food was very mid. Also they state that you get 32oz. Our chicken came out to 22oz. It's probably for the best considering it tasted like last nights food. Price point isn't bad but I could've gone somehere else for a few bucks more for a better tasting meal.

They always forget to put chicken in Mongolian chicken. What you get is onions and salt. Very mediocre quality of food. Not for a person who enjoys a good caliber of flavors. Way too pricey for the value.

Cathay Express is not a dine in restaurant; it's pick-up only. The people are friendly, the food is priced well, the wait is not long, and there is plenty of parking.
In regards to the food, I must admit that I get the exact same thing every time, because it's so delicious... eggplant with tofu, plus egg rolls. I've gotten food from here at least 10 times, and yes, I eat the same thing EVERY time!!! ha ha ha It's so good that I don't want to try anything else.
The serving sizes are very generous, too. I love it!
The place is a hole in the wall BUT the service is phenomenal, the food is explicit and overall I have had a great experience every single time I’ve ordered food from here .i need to order more things from the menu but so far the salt and pepper wings with rice and noodles and eggrolls are 5/5

It has been a long while since I haven't been to Cathey Express for lunch. I decided to have my lunch there today. I found out they had closed the dining room and ordered food to go only now.The lady there is very polite, and the service is fast. I ordered the number 5 combo - Broccoli Beef with BBQ Pork Fried Rice and Chicken Chow Mein. It took her only a few minutes to have it ready. I have a delicious lunch in only a few minutes. It is excellent if you need a quick meal. The broccoli beef is a little too salty. But still yummy! I'll try more items later on their menu. The prices are reasonable too!
Vegetarian options: Many vegetable items are available on their menu.
Parking: Parking is easy to find even at lunchtime
Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair friendly, but it is food to go only. No dine-in.
Little gem tucked between Auto Parts store and Radial Tire hath restored my faith in Chinese takeout after years of disappointment across the greater Sacramento area watching the go to spots of old close or change hands convincing newer generations that bamboo eating bears somehow serve up decent authentic Chinese Food. Thank you sister for the recommendation thank you Cathay for not disappointing. Ordered Mongolian beef combo , crab cheese wonton for good measure. Large portions, fresh ingredients, veggies w snap, tender meats, not super greasy, not oily,proper seasoning, deliciously sauced , just damn good tasty Chinese food easy on the wallet and tummy. That's my experience yours may differ, I most definitely will be adding Cathay into the rotation.
