An OK steakhouse. Our first time there we didn’t receive the right cut of steak. On the second trip, oysters were meh, brussel sprouts were just wet and soggy. Their high end rib steak was not at all worth the money. Cocktails were ok. Wine was ok. Just ok overall.

Had a great dinner, as usual. Tyler was a very good waiter and patient as we kept discussing business, while he was trying to take out order.

It took quite a while for us to receive water and bread, although our server was polite throughout. Our food also took longer than expected. The tables around us were loud, with one group cursing and banging on the table, which made it hard to enjoy the meal. My husband's steak was cooked medium rare instead of medium well, and my daughter's pasta came with cheese even though we requested butter only. It was also my son's birthday, and the experience just felt a bit off. The server wished him a happy birthday at the end and had us look at the dessert menu, but we declined and there was no other acknowledgement, so it just fell a little flat for the occasion. On the bright side, my steak was excellent and my son enjoyed his meal. I would be willing to give them another try, but I would not go out of my way to return.

First, the positives. All of the food was really good, and the location, inside the hotel next to the Capitol and close to several entertainment venues, is great. Now, the rest. Service was not wholly terrible, but close to it, and low staffing is responsible for part of it (but not all). Got sat at a long table with one seat in an aisle way. Indicated this would be a date when making the reservation. Plenty of other nicer seats available as the restaurant was only about half full.  This made it hard to have a conversation given the noise level and constant activity behind me. Everything about the service was extremely slow, and our waiter's demeanor was somewhat condescending. We started off ordering a couple of drinks that didn't come until after we had finished salad, bread, and appetizers. Our waiter never came back to check if we needed something else until every glass on the table was empty, including the water. Had to bug him for the check after an hour and a half, so we could make a show.  I won't even consider going back until enough time has gone by to have a turnover of the staff.

Luke warm, overpriced food. Nothing special. We wanted to try the fixed price menu for Dine Sacramento. $170 tab for 2 people included a small cup of squash soup, a few boiled potato pieces, a slice of gelatinous kale, and a small piece of meat. We also had dessert, 1 glass of wine and 2 beers. Not a good value for the money and we won't be going g back. Sorry Dawson's, there are too many great options out there.

Just a fantastic meal as always and the service was impeccable. Dawsons always has great quality food but the value you get for the Dine Downtown menu is unmatched.

Our server Juan was fantastic! All of the staff were very attentive (iced tea was changed with a new glass, more water was poured and left on the table, food came out in correct order, etc.) Our steaks were cooked exactly as we requested, and were delicious. I had the wine reduction, steak sauce, and it really just tasted like oil to me. Also, I ordered the brussels sprouts, but did not finish those as they were pretty hard and not caramelized the way they were listed on the menu.  My husband said his Dawson steak sauce tasted just like A1 sauce. Our dessert however, was fantastic. We got the peanut butter molten chocolate cake that came with a scoop of vanilla gelato and some homemade cracker jack on top.

This was a very strange experience. “Greeted” by a hostess who was maybe on her first night or just extremely overwhelmed. Told us our table would be ready in 10 mins, which was fine but didn't direct us to the available high tops or bar just keep telling us we'd have to wait. It was very off putting and awkward. Sat down to order drinks and the bar staff was great, friendly and informative. Same goes for wait staff at the table. Food was mediocre with the highlight being the arancini starter. The vibe of the restaurant was just off. Won't be back

Every year we go to Dawsons for my birthday. Brandon is an amazing server and remembers his customers and makes it feel both like fine dining and also like you visit every day. Emery is attentive and the manager Liz heard us talking about my birthday and made sure I got a little chocolate birthday chip with my desert making it feel so special. 5 stars doesn't feel like enough!

We went on New Year's Eve. Dawsons was serving a pre-fixed menu that was excellent. We had a 5 course meal that included Scallops Pork Belly, Duck Breast, Fillet Mignon and finished with a Desert Ball. Incredible meal and great service!
