I love the oxtail meal (could use more plantains, though, especiallyfor the cost). Very good flavor and meat is always tender. Shout out to employee Stephanie for excellent customer service. Black-owned business (go, sistah!). Blessed and is a blessing to the community.

The food is delicious. They don't always have coco bread. That pisses me off. That stuff is amazing. The jerk chicken isn't really spicy. I don't think they add any scotch bonnet peppers. It's still delicious, I am used to eating jerk chicken made on he east coast. Maybe that's why it is not so spicy. I will go back. The curry goat is always a winner.

I ordered jerk chicken and a fried dumpling. The dumpling was so damn hard i couldn't eat it. A whole waste of money.

This place has a lot of growing room in terms of presentation and comfortable dining area.
1. No air conditioning
2. We found a small piece of food plastic wrap in the rice easy mistake to make better than finding hair

I was really excited to try this restaurant reading all of the reviews and having it recommended by an instagram page! However things turned out to be fairly overall disappointing, the lady that was working the register got our order wrong despite reading it back twice, we were served in to-go plastic containers (Not even plates) and while I can sort of write that off as maybe having no dishwashing staff available, I think the most egregious part of this ordeal was how bland the food was and how the chicken was dryer than the Sahara. I can’t even begin to elaborate on how upset it made me to eat BLAND Jamaican food, i’ve had more flavor from dishes I’ve eaten in the UK! On the one hand I hope that maybe I just got a bad pull and this was a one time misfortune (Needless to say I still won’t go back), but on the other hand I wonder how many of the top reviews are paid to write positive statements- because none of what they describe was there today.

If you’re craving real Jamaican food in Sacramento, Dubplate Kitchen in Arden Arcade is where the magic happens. This spot isn’t just good—it’s straight fire. From the moment you walk in, the aroma hits you like a wave of island flavor. You know you’re in for something serious.

Let’s get right into the heavy hitters:

The Jerk Chicken—hands-down, one of the best in the city. The spice level is dialed in perfectly—just enough heat to wake up your senses, but not so much it overpowers the deep, smoky, well-marinated flavor. Every bite is juicy, tender, and packed with that signature jerk punch. You can tell this isn’t some watered-down version—this is authentic Jamaican soul food.

Now, if you’re into rich, comforting curries, do not sleep on the Goat Curry. It’s bold, meaty, and beautifully seasoned—slow-cooked to that fall-off-the-bone texture with spices that cling to every bite. The kind of dish that makes you close your eyes while eating and just vibe with the flavor.

The portions? Generous. The staff? Warm and welcoming. The vibe? Chill but full of character, just like the food. Whether you're a longtime Jamaican food lover or trying it for the first time, Dubplate Kitchen delivers a culinary experience you won’t forget.

This isn’t just dinner. It’s a destination.
