El Cantaro Vegan Taqueria

A lot of vegan places could come across as pretentious but this one just has a nice relaxed vibe with amazing food. Highly recommend!

Best Mexican food around. They have all the menu items of a standard taqueria, but better because everything is vegan.

Really yummy Mexican food! Everything I tried there tasted really good. A separate shoutout to the nachos! The best nachos I ever had. I keep coming back for them😄

I had a great lunch here, the menu is gigantic so it's difficult to decide but everything was very tasty. One minor critique would be that I would've enjoyed more salsa/hot sauces as the food could've been spicier but everything was still great.

Small place tucked into the corner of a strip center with a varied menu and all homemade. I had a Chiken Tostada and a Soft Baja Fish Taco. The tortilla was thick and handmade, rare for any Mexican restaurant. I overheard someone say the burritos are amazing. Oh well, next time!

I was very disappointed to have to wait over 30 minutes to get my veggie burrito with green sauce. I had an event I had to attend, so after 25 minutes of waiting, I told the person in the front that I needed to go and wanted to get a refund. She insisted to wait a few more minutes. I saw another person who came after me and only after 10 minutes or so, he got his food and left. After 35 minutes. I eventually got the food but they put it in a plastic box to go even though I specifically told her that I was eating g there when I ordered it. Eventually, I had to ask for a plate and I had to transfer the burrito from the to go box to the plate and it was made a lot smaller than when I ate there before and not all the ingredients ts were inside. She came by my table to ask me how was the food, and I told her that it was not ok. However, she didn't say anything. Since then, I have not been there anymore and I am not planning to go again. The manager has not contacted me about this experience. I paid almost $20 for a burrito that I had to wait 35 minutes for and a burrito that was not made properly. Because of that long wait, I missed the event I supposed to attend.

Truly enjoyed this restaurant. So many options to choose from. Glad this place exists in the greater Sacramento area.

Great variety on the all vegan menu. I had the bean and cheese burrito and enchiladas (not at the same time, as much as I would have liked to! 🤣 Lunch and dinner. The enchiladas and side of rice and beans were very flavorful and oh so good!! I’m looking forward to returning next month when I am there again!

The carne asada tacos and the quesa-birria tacos are not to be missed!

I love this place! The potato tacos are the bomb. The ‘beef’ and chkn is so perfectly seasoned. I always get the fries too as they are homestyle, thick and salted just right. This place is #1 when it comes to vegan Mexican food.

I first discovered El Cantaro in Monterey, so was stoked to learn about this newer location in Sac! This is a fully vegan Mexican restaurant with both veggie and mock meat options. My go to is the spinach enchiladas with xmas sauce - so tasty and perfect meal size with the side of rice and beans they come with. Friendly for gluten-free folks, too.

Love that this place does vegan Mexican food!!!! And they do it really well. Tasty and great portion. Only thing we didn’t really like was the nopales taco which was a bit boring. The cactus could be better seasoned or cooked differently- just tasted like cactus straight from the can with no preparation.

Very busy on a Sunday afternoon, so delicious! Mushroom taco was exceptionally good and the quesadilla was just the right amount of spicy

I’ve been a longtime regular at this place and implore anyone who craves an authentic taqueria experience to give El Cantaro a chance! The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. #Veganuary
