We ordered catering from Field-n-Flame Midtown for a corporate event and it exceeded expectations. The food arrived right on time (huge bonus: no delivery fee), and everything was still hot and incredibly fresh. The selections were beautiful and unique, not your standard catering spread, and it really elevated our lunch.

Several attendees asked where it was from, which says it all. Looking forward to the next time lunch is catered by Field-n-Flame. Until then, I’ll happily be stopping by their Midtown location!

I was here for a business dinner with two colleagues. The food was fantastic, and there are ample options for those with dietary restrictions or food sensitivities. My only real challenge was that our waiter didn't know much about some of the food and drink options we asked her about, including allergen questions. That said, she did ask us when we were first seated about any allergens. Overall the food was excellent and the ambience lovely. I would return to this restaurant without hesitation. For transparency, this review was also posted on OpenTable.

AVOID. Dark and dreary dining room with wretched food. I ordered the steelhead trout: it was dry and overcooked, the white beans underneath were undercooked and hard. The olive tapenade was sweet and disgusting. Sad to see the owner's life savings going down the drain like this.

First visit won’t be back.. Made a reservation no problems getting seated, the restaurant was moderately busy. Still many empty tables. The Atmosphere was nice however the service was bad. The server did not pace out appetizers and we got everything at the same time. The server never came back I had to tell other employees to find her. The food was very plain I ordered the Mediterranean Sea Bass . It was basically the fish with a small side salad. Very overpriced for what is was . Unfortunately first impressions are everything . Food and prices are not in alignment

We arrived promptly for our 6:30 reservation and were met with a lobby so crowded it was difficult to even check in with the host. To their credit, they offered complimentary wine while we waited, but we weren’t seated until 6:50.
We began with four fresh oysters—unfortunately, they were the smallest I’ve ever seen, barely the size of a quarter. After several minutes, our server took our first-course order. The steak tartare was well-prepared and flavorful, while the harvest salad was pleasant but unremarkable.
Seventeen minutes passed before our server returned to take our main course order, only to inform us that the crab linguine had already sold out—surprisingly early in the evening. We opted instead for the steelhead and the duck; chicken was also offered, though it felt like a less-than-special choice.
When our entrées arrived, we then had to wait several more minutes for new silverware. The duck featured a good crust, but the meat itself was tough and overly gamey. The steelhead was prepared fairly basic. The sweet potato hash had good flavor, but had hard, charred pieces suggesting it may have been batch-cooked and left sitting too long.
Service continued to lag. We waited 22 minutes before our dessert order was taken, despite the server passing by our table multiple times without checking in. When we finally flagged her down, she mistakenly believed she had already taken our order. Dessert was enjoyable, though portioned very small. About silver-dollar size.
The outdoor ambiance was adequate. The weather was ideal, and the restaurant provided scarves and patio heaters to keep guests comfortable. However, it was disappointing that the live music indoors wasn’t broadcast outside.
In the end, the evening did not justify the $300 price. The food fell below expectations, the service was inconsistent, and while the ambiance was adequate, it wasn’t enough to elevate the experience. Unfortunately, this is not a place I would choose for a special night out.

We were really disappointed by our Valentine’s Day experience at Field-n-Flame. As soon as we approached the restaurant, we saw 10-15 couples waiting outside in the cold, assumedly all with reservations like us, because there was an issue with the check-in process. Once seated, the experience continued to worsen. The food quality was very poor, and it was a pretty bad experience from start to finish. There was a pre-set menu with very few options, and the main reason we chose this place was because of the Dungeness crab linguine being one of the options. Our reservation was at 7pm, and they were already out of the linguine at that point. The food that was brought out was very low quality and basically inedible. We were unable to eat it, and we are not picky eaters in the slightest. I have never written a bad review but we truly felt this place was almost a scam based on how ridiculously bad the experience was. At the least, I do feel like they were taking advantage of couples wanting to have a nice meal out for Valentine’s Day. I hope they are able to take this feedback to heart and not cause more disappointment to others.

I have never written a negative review before, but this was easily the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in my life.

The only good thing I can say is that it’s a great place for anyone on a diet. One bite of their duck, which was tough and stunk, immediately killed my appetite.
I had to spit it out. (See photo to look at how little we could stomach of the food)

I paid over $250 and got my partner excited for the oysters, crab linguine, and harp music only to find out they had none of those. It is an awful feeling to see your partner crestfallen after dressing up and looking forward to a night out and to have experienced the worst meal of her life there.

This was for a 7pm reservation, so I don’t know how they could run out of one of only four options they had for a main. The backup choices we ended up getting were the duck and the chicken were atrocious. I would be embarrassed to serve it to my dog, I don’t know how they could feel okay serving it to couples on Valentine’s Day.

I’ve also never walked out of a restaurant mid-meal, but trying the mains and hearing the nonchalant response from our waitress, it was clear there was no point in staying.

It really was that bad. This is not to mention some of the tables were plastic and they had us wait outside for ~30 minutes after our reservation time while they sheepishly poured us wine to placate everyone.

I spoke to some locals about this today and they also said they heard bad things from this place and were shocked that the reviews weren’t lower.

I would say avoid like the plague, but I’d rather have the plague than have to go back here. If you’re thinking about taking a partner for a nice meal here, I would recommend taking them to Taco Bell instead. They’ll be less disappointed.

The atmosphere and service was outstanding. As for the food and drinks they were so so. I ordered the Dungeness crab fettuccine and while very good was nothing spectacular. The hubby ordered the pork chop, which came out slightly cold. The drinks were standard.

Saturday night with a friend. Prime time was quite busy and LOUD. We both got the filet mignon skewers. She got the beet salad and I got the asparagus, plus drinks. There are two Sauv Blancs, neither are from New Zealand and no Malbec. Complimentary bread/hummus. Bread was warm, but hummus had too much garlic. Enjoyed the mild sesame flavor. Not sure the method of meat tenderizing they did, but the texture was mealy. Liked the greens that accompanied, but too much onion. The asparagus doesn't need bacon and the white sauce was kinda gross. Friend liked the beet salad. Server appeared new, so giving her a pass. Drinks were slow. Quality menu with upscale decor, but sports on a tv at the bar AND the diningroom seems inappropriate/out of place.

We went for a friend's birthday on January 3rd 2026 around 7:00 p.m..

The restaurant was not too busy as that day there was a bit of rain in the Sacramento area.

Coming into the restaurant it was very intimate the lights were low but the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming.

We were greeted by the host and then quickly greeted again by the server that was going to help us during our meal. We had a nice big comfy table near the entrance that could see outside through the big window.

Since it was our first time there the server gave us her favorite suggestions and all the pictures that I posted with this or will be purchased based on that recommendation. We were exceedingly happy because since we were celebrating a birthday we brought our own cake and they were very gracious enough to take the cake we brought and put it in the back so it could stay cold until we needed it. In addition they even went as far as cutting the cake for us so we could have it served to the birthday boy.

The food items we did were the fries with sauce, beef skewers, meatballs, grilled octopus, Mac and cheese, and the zucchini croquettes.

Hands down everyone loved the mac and cheese followed by the beast skewers. Both of those had amazing flavor especially the mac and cheese it was not overly decadent but very comforting. The skewers we're perfectly cooked and had a nice char on the outside of them.

The one thing that we would call out is both the croquettes and the grilled octopus the octopus could have been a little bit more charred on the grill so it had a nice little crunch to it. Similar to the Croquettes they were soft on the inside which is nice but felt a little too soft on the outside not soggy but again it just needed that crunch to give the nice bite to it.

We did order a few drinks going to be honest I cannot remember what they were because I only took one picture of them my bad. But overall no one had any complaints. We actually ended up ordering a second round of drinks and people copied each other to try other things.

Overall the experience was very nice, food was good definitely want to try out other dishes there, and the service was unbelievably gracious and amazing.

I wanted to enjoy this more than I did. We went for Dine Downtown, and it was underwhelming. They were slammed when we arrived, and imo understaffed. The waitress was kind enough, but we barely saw her and waited an hour for our meal after ordering. Delicious starters, but the salmon was very dry, overcooked, and the key lime tart was grainy with sugar. The waitress did comp us a drink for the long wait, unprompted. Like I said, she was very kind but overworked. Perhaps on a slower night the vibe is completely different.

Great atmosphere, service was polite and on time, and food was really good. This place is expensive: if you buy drinks, appetizers, meals, and dessert expect to pay about 100 per person, but I would say that it is worth the price.
