Four of us ate at Frank Fat's for their 86th Anniversary dinner and it was great. The food was amazing, our favorite Honey Walnut Prawns is always great, but the steak with onions was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the fried rice was a surprise, it was exceptional. All the food was wonderful from appetizers to dinner to pie. Also the service was amazing. Our waiter and the rest of the support staff were so professional, checked on us, our water glasses were never empty, plates were removed promptly when we were finished with appetizers, and any dish we had finished, and despite being there taking care of us, they were unobtrusive. Just a great evening of great friends, great food and great service
Had lunch at Frank's for the first time. The food came out fast and hot. Everything we ordered was delicious. I highly recommend the General Tsao's chicken.
Frank Fat's never disappoints! From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, the service was absolutely impeccable, warm, attentive, and professional. The food came out hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious, reminding me again why this place is always a favorite. Even though we were completely full, we couldn't resist ordering dessert because their chocolate pie is hands down the best. An amazing experience all around!
We had high expectations after hearing about how much of a staple this restaurant is in Sacramento. The restaurant is very much Americanized and lacks flavor in their dishes. We went for the Friday lunch special and ordered the Mongolian beef (5/10: barely any meat, bland), honey walnut shrimp (6.5/10: similar to Panda Express), and the famous green beans (8/10: best dish we had but very expensive). Maybe it was an off day, but we wouldn't come back here for the value and would get a more flavorful meal at Panda Express.
A Sacramento gem! It's always a treat to dine at Frank Fat's. My sister was visiting from out of town and requested Chinese food for dinner. We had to come here, of course, and it was delicious and wonderful as usual. We shared the appetizer combo platter with Yu Kwok, salt and pepper chicken, potstickers and spring rolls. She was impressed as soon as those arrived, and dinner got better and better with each course. We had Singapore curry chicken, honey walnut prawns and the famous green beans along with brown and white rice for dinner. Banana cream pie - the best in the whole world - rounded out our meal.
Celebrated my wife's birthday at Frank Fat's. We were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the evening. Every dish was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, and the presentation was great. The staff went above and beyond to make the celebration special, even surprising us with a sweet birthday gesture for my wife.
We requested our table days in advance and included a note about wanting a booth. Instead, we were seated next to the bathroom at a table that was right next to where all of the kitchen staff entered and exited with plates of food. We were leaning and getting out of the way of servers all night. This is the first time that we brought friends here. We usually have a great experience, but this one was a little rough. Food was good as always, but everything else left a lot to be desired.
Our group of three had a wonderful experience at Frank Fat's; my husband, in particular, thought this was some of the best Chinese food he had ever had! If you can, bring a group so you can order multiple dishes and try them all! (By the way, the outside of the restaurant looks simple and unassuming; we almost didn't go into the restaurant, but once inside it's quite pleasant!)
My family has been to Frank Fats downtown on many of our occasions. This evening was not as spectacular as previous dinners, not sure if it was the company or the service. I didn't feel the servers was as engaged than our previous experiences.
Everything was great as usual. They did change the Chinese chicken salad ingredients slightly. It was still good but prefer the original recipe.

Fabulous ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food! I hadn't been there since the late 70's, and it's still a very special place. The chow mein, orange chicken, spring rolls, and banana cream pie were as great as I remembered. That's no small feat to maintain such a high standard for decades!
Fantastic evening! Excellent menu and the food was terrific. Our waitress, Michelle, was delightful!
We had an absolutely wonderful Father's Day dinner at Frank Fat's in Sacramento! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and cared for. Our waitress, Emily, was exceptional—attentive, engaging, and genuinely warm. She anticipated our needs without being overbearing and added such a personal, thoughtful touch to our dining experience. All of the servers and staff were equally hospitable, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. And the food? Outstanding! Every dish was flavorful and perfectly prepared. You can really taste the care and quality in each bite. My family and I left feeling full, happy, and incredibly grateful for such a remarkable experience. Thank you to Emily and the entire Frank Fat's team for making our Father's Day so memorable. We'll definitely be back!
As always, the food is very delicious and the staff are very friendly and personable. We tried 2 new dishes (sweet &sour pork & a chow mein dish) and were delish! Will order those again. Of course, can't miss out on the Banana Cream pie- worth every bite!
Food was excellent with great service. Great cocktails too! Be sure to get a reservation or you'll have a long wait.
