I had a wonderful experience at one of Sacramento's top restaurants. The food was thoughtfully prepared, and the drinks showcased impressive craftsmanship. The service was attentive and added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
I began with the mushroom soup, which was delightful, featuring truffle crema, olive oil, and chives. The deviled eggs, enhanced with cacio e pepe, gremolata, and chives, were equally enjoyable. Both starters were clearly crafted with care.
I highly recommend the chicken wings; they were a standout, featuring a flavorful garlic and ginger gastrique, alongside pickled Fresno chiles and sesame seeds. Each of the appetizers showed the chef's creativity and attention to detail.
For the main course, I chose the flat iron steak, which was excellent. It was paired with California chili potatoes, charred onions, and salsa borracha, creating a well-balanced dish that I truly appreciated.
Overall, this restaurant stands out as a fantastic option for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious meal in Sacramento. I look forward to returning and exploring more from their menu!

My boyfriend brought me here multiple times. I chose it to even celebrate my birthday today because it is SO amazing. From the wine to the food to the service and the ambiance. Nothing else compares in Sac. The Rigatoni is my favorite. If you want a really good cheeseburger my bf LOVED it. Their fries and garlic aioli is delicious!

The food at Hawks Public House is delicious. It's one of my favorite early dinner dining spots. I have never had a bad experience. Reservations are a must. Know that it can get noisy for It's a midsized popular restaurant. The pork chop is incredible.

Honestly surprised about our poor experience after reading other reviews. Arrived 10 minutes before our reservation when only the bar was open and the lone bartender couldn’t handle a 2/3 full bar. Hostess wouldn’t let us sit at any of the empty tables since the servers hadn’t arrived so we were left standing in the middle of the restaurant unable to get a drink. Finally made it to a space in the bar and the bartender said he was too busy to take our order right away. Other staff there but no one ever came to help him. Eventually took 40 minutes to get drinks and well 90 minutes to get our food. Watched people who came in well after us get their food 20 minutes before us.
House cocktail had a weird consistency and several items we ordered weren’t great. Rigatoni sauce was tasty but noodles were very tough. Cold blob of cheese on top isn’t a great addition as the pasta cooled over pretty quickly.
Server was pleasant but seemed unfamiliar with some menu items ingredients. Overall not a place I’d go back to.

Hawks is a nice place. The food was excellent and the service was great. Apparently this place is quite popular. Our group arrived early on a Monday night with only a few people in the place but by the time we left the place was packed. The one negative is it got very loud inside once all the seats were filled. Back to the food, it was top notch but not cheap. No complaints on the price but be forewarned. The service won me over.

Delicious entrees, appetizers, and drinks. The chef made my wife and kids a custom vegan Pasta, even checked in later himself to ensure they loved it.

Great atmosphere. Service was excellent. Mushroom soup to start with was excellent, great depth of mushroom flavor and the truffle oil addition created a nice contrast. Salmon was cooked perfectly, only feedback was the skin while crispy was over salted. Overall a great spot. Plenty of free parking is a bonus.

Dietary restrictions: Let me say that I rarely post ratings for places with the exception of either being remarkably good or disappointedly bad. Unfortunately this is about the latter. Since 2 of the 3 of us dining are gluten sensitive my wife called to inquire about the gluten free options. This is important to know since the menu is heavy on pasta entrees. She was connected to the manager who informed my wife that they could accommodate most items on the menu as gluten free. Great! After arriving and ordering our server returned to inform us that they do not have any gluten free bread/rolls/buns or pasta. Our choices were the cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce, the rigatoni with fusilli pasta, mushroom soup and the chicory and pear salad. The best to worst: Salad, Soup, Burger, Fusilli pasta. The pasta would have had a chance to be better than a 1 star if it hadn't been drowning in cured egg yolk sauce and then loaded on top with a 1/4" layer of Pecorino Romano cheese. I hope the management will be more forthcoming the next time someone calls to inquire about their GF choices. Or if they would like to really accommodate gluten free/sensitive customers they could pickup some GF hamburger buns and rice pasta from a supplier.

We went on a random Tuesday night and wait times for drinks and food are long. Waitress was super nice and kept us updated and apologized for short staff but I suppose there’s a certain expectation for nice restaurants like this. Food was amazing, great flavors and done in unique ways. The tuna takes the cake here, super well done app. Drinks are done well here too, good selection at the bar. The chocolate cookie and ice cream was the perfect way to end the night
