Great community spot to have some beer and pizza! The staff are super friendly and accommodating.Some regular patrons aren’t the best about watching their kids (being disruptive to other patrons, scratching up the tables, which is disappointing, but that’s not HG’s fault. Other than that, it’s a pretty relaxing/inviting atmosphere. If Hop Gardens wasn’t run by great people, it might keep me away, but that’s not the case. It’s one of our favorites!

I thought this was just an average beer place, but I was dead wrong. Its beer menu is on the Untappd app. If you’re a big beer fan, you’d probably know all about it.It had 93 beers to choose from. It was a good problem to have. I wanted draft beers and not in cans. There were still 23 draft beers. I ordered a “blueberry muffin fruit in the can”, a smoothie sour at 6% abv, for my friend. It tasted just like juice. I guess that’s why it got a very high rating on Untappd. I got myself an IPA called Whale Watching and it was pretty good.Since this place was big on beers, I thought maybe the food wouldn’t be that good. I was pleasantly surprised. From the burrata plate (burrata, bread, pesto and cherry tomatoes) to the apple walnut salad and to the truffle shuffle pizza, everything was delicious. Was I starving? Not really, but I ate like I was.One bonus about this place is that it’s walking distance to Gunthers for some ice cream afterwards, which we did. Definitely want to go back to try more drafts and food items!

The best neighborhood beer and pizza spot. We eat here once a week and it never gets old because of the excellent pizza and rotating beer list. Patio is wonderful and doable in the winter with heaters and firepits. Try the fried artichoke hearts!

Had a great time last night, a bit cold but with heating g lamps we were comfortable. We Requested a reservation and we were able to secure 2 tables for our group of 15, we played uno and it turned out to be a very memorable night with friends.Food was perfect Beer was amazing as usual, this is one of our fav spot!

Ate here last night with family. Despite chilly temperature, we sat outside in the table near a gas heater. Not all tables are near those, so if preferring outside dining, dress for the weather!Had margarita pizza, calzone, loaded potatoes wedges, salad, meatballs. All good! Meatballs are incredible— best I’ve had in years, anywhere! Pizza Margarita was thin crust, authentic Napoli style.There’s a good variety of craft beers.Kudos to all the staff: front order-taker, kitchen staff, and friendly efficient busy crew in the garden who served and bussed tables with humor and courtesy on a crowded Friday night!This is in a lovely safe local Sacto neighborhood. (Gunther’s Ice Cream conveniently a block away—for dessert!)
