I wish HappyCow allowed 5 stars. Its a little unfair that this place which is real a gem is not allowed to get the full and proper rating for both the effort and commitment to serve vegan dishes to customers as well as the quality of its offerings. Kind Bean Cafe has both superb food and incredible staff. Each and every time I eat here the food seems to get better and better. The vegan platter is just delicious and not overwhelming. The seasonings are just perfect and the injera is fresh and super tasty. While the meal in itself is perhaps the best in the area, the service is top notch and a level higher than many restaurants. The entire experience is absolutely phenomenal. You are greeted and served with a warm beautiful smile. You feel welcomed and appreciated. You kind of feel like royalty and really good about the experience here. Highly, Highly recommend this Incredible place!! Updated from previous review on 2025-06-10

This was a great neighborhood coffee shop with a twist. I really enjoy Ethiopian food and their coffee is always freshly made. Although on this encounter, I did not partake in the food the smells really had me engaged and wanting to take a plate home. I ordered the Ethiopian macchiato and it was very delicious. I requested that it wasn't made sweet so I can enjoy the flavors. The service was very quick and attentive. I definitely will be back for another round and hopefully a plate of food as well.

I had the veg half lunch and it was delicious! I selected the yellow split- peas and cabbage. It came with salad and injera. Next time I would like to try the platter. I also ordered an iced coffee tea, which was very good too.
The Kind Bean Cafe is a quaint and lovely cafe with delicious Ethiopian food. I ordered the veggie platter and loved how balanced it is with both hot and cold items with varying spice levels. The women that works here are so friendly, and I enjoyed a conversation about our favorite items. Whether you want a caffeine fix or a healthy nourishing Ethiopian meal- I highly recommend!

I just happened to Google this place and go here on a whim. I had been cleansing & detoxing and wanted some nutrient dense foods without all the preservatives and additives. The owners were very hospitable. I placed my order & was able to discuss the difference between certain food selections. The cashier was very knowledgeable about the cuisine which made me feel right at home. I ordered & customized my own veggie platter. They has this one buttery tasting chickpea side and it was dark in color and surprisingly to me, it tasted very very good, especially considering I'm not a fan of chickpeas at all. I started eating chickpeas for their nutritional value. My entire veggie plate was delicious. I took a little bit home with me. I was definitely satisfied, not stuffed but, full. Kind Bean Cafe served it's purpose. Great Place for food. The owner asked me how everything was. Bonus!!! She made sure I had everything I needed. BONUS PLUS!!!
I highly recommend this place. ?
Vegetarian options: Nice vegetable platter sums it up for me and is a commonly ordered dish in Ethiopian Restaurants.
Dietary restrictions: The vegetable plate was exactly what I needed after only consuming fruits vegetables, nuts, and seeds, for 32 days.
Parking: a strip mall parking lot with a few other businesses but, no problem parking on the weekend wasn't crowded at all . The lot isn't huge it's just enough parking which works perfectly for the amount of businesses there.
Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome although it's a small quiet space. If the kids are the run around toddler crying age it may not be suitable & would definitely change the atmosphere.

I got the veggie platter which comes with a choice of 5 veggie dishes which was served with the Ethiopian Flat Bread! Everything was delicious and I got the mild dishes. Service was very fast and kind. Highly recommend! Very vegan friendly.

Our first time trying Ethiopian food and it did not disappoint! We were recommended the veggie platter so that’s exactly what we got. Delicious, flavorful, and healthy options. We left feeling full but without any sluggishness! Also tried the Cha Cha latte (matcha and chai), which was absolutely delicious!Whenever we are in the Sac area we will be stopping in. Give this place a chance!!
