The website advertises German food, but there is none...and they add gratuity to a walk up and order your food from the bar.
My burger was nasty and super super greasy

Breakfast is pretty good. They also have a full bar in the morning.

Used to love it here, but recently experienced intense in-activism.. to the point in which they kicked out a group of people trying to tell a religious hate group to get out of the lavender district. Complacency and lack of a stance is a stance. You can't be in the gay district and not stand up for the lgbtq+ community.

This is a German-style eatery based in the center of the gay-district. If that doesn't clue you in to their stance, then their attitude and treatment towards lgbtq+ and people of color are support enough. Never experienced such obvious hate prejudice, and racism. If you are a person of color, lgbtq+, or anything against the norm, avoid this place for your safety and sanity.

I used to love this place. Their food was always top tier. The drinks, service, food and atmosphere was somewhere I looked forward to every weekend. The recently changed owners and the new owner changed the menu. They got rid of their OG meals (the famous lowbrau burger THAT WON AN AWARD.) They got rid of everything that made this place what it was. I had my first date here 4 years ago and we both fell in love with the energy and the workers. The new owner should have never gotten rid of the things that make lowbrau, LOWBRAU. To the point of changing their literal ranch, should have never changed.

For the workers that have stayed the same, I love them. They have always been the most friendly and welcoming and I hope they never change. For everything else (food and drinks), the new owner needs to lock in and figure it out before it turns into a fast food restaurant.

RIP to the lowbrau I used to know.

The hat-wearing Edgar at check in tried finessing me for twice the amount of the cover. I told him I had noticed the extra charge and he stated that it was a mistake due to the couple that had gone before me. He even got defensive when I brought it up.

I had a deeply upsetting and disappointing experience outside of LowBrau that speaks volumes about how this business responds to racism.

While parked legally on a public street, minding my own business and playing music in my car, I was aggressively approached by a group of patrons who told me to move and turn my music off. Their tone and behavior were laced with racism and entitlement—disrespectful and completely uncalled for.

What made this worse was LowBrau’s response. When I rightfully stood my ground, staff and management came outside not to address the aggressive behavior of their patrons, but to try and calm me—as if I was the problem. This is the kind of microaggression and gaslighting Black people deal with far too often: we’re labeled as the “issue” even when we are the ones being disrespected.

If LowBrau wants to be a business that welcomes all, they need to do better. That means training your staff to recognize and intervene when your patrons are being racist—not pacifying the person being targeted. You don’t get to stay neutral when someone’s humanity is being questioned.

To anyone Black or part of a marginalized community: be aware of how this place handles conflict and who they choose to protect. I won’t be back until I see real accountability and change.

7/6 8p: * had a conversation with Mike via phone - who answered immediately and was very attentive. I’ve adjusted my review based on our chat - I appreciate the basic ability to be heard. Great job, Mike.

LowBrau is a staple for a night out. Depending on when you go you'll get a different experience. Some nights they have house music, electric music, pop music, etc.. Depending on the dj and the night you may get a lot of people dancing or it might feel kinda dead. Their themed dance nights are so fun and I think when they are busier. Motown Monday gets very very packed but the music is made for dancing and the energy is great for meeting new people.

I've enjoyed all the drinks I've gotten here but my go tos are their ciders and the bees knees cocktail. The only food I've had here is their fries which are tasty so I'll have to check out the food menu sometime. Definitely come check it out on your next night out or if you wanna sit on the patio during the next nice weather day with your friends. The patio is also dog friendly and the location is so convenient.
