Mahoroba Japanese Bakery

I really like this Japanese bakery! A bit small but my all time favorites are the Sunrise, Sweet Cream Cheese, and An Pan (red bean). I was a bit disappointed to find out they don’t make Kare Pan anymore and no korokke items I’m guessing they’ve chosen not to offer deep-fried items in their bakery? which is understandable, their baked goods are still delicious anyway. The service, however, hasn’t been particularly warm or welcoming. Every time I visit, there’s usually a young guy working who just quietly takes my order and without much expression. (Not rude) 😅 I recommend getting there early because some of the popular items sell out quickly. One time, the older man in front of us bought the entire tray of sunrise! Since there were no rules or limits on how many a customer can take,(I don't know if they have it now) I only managed to get two, even though there were four of us wanting sunrise.. 🥲 Since then, I’ve learned my lesson and just make sure to arrive early! 🤣

It's expensive if you buy it from a Japanese perspective, but it's really delicious!
There are Japanese restaurants and an Asian market right next door, so it took us two hours to get there by car from Reno.

I lived here about 10 years ago and when I had the opportunity to pass by, we made a special stop for the Strawberry Anko Fresh Cream buns (my favorite!) They were just as good as I remembered. Perfectly balanced and so delicious. We certainly grabbed some other snacks (Berry Berry, Tropical Desert, and Raspberry Cream Cheese pastries) and they were all a delight. The staff is always so kind and make great recommendations. Considering a move back to the area just to visit again. Well worth it! I brought a green tea kobe cream back for my husband and even 2 days later (with refrigeration) it was perfect.

It's okay. Everything here is just okay. You will not be disappointed, but you will not be impressed.
Staff is great, and the selection is very diverse. Chocolate filled bread to cream filled. Including regular breads.

Every time I'm in the area I stop in and get something. Everything is delicious, but some flavors will not be to everyone's taste, so make sure to order something you're comfortable with and recognize. I would give them 6 stars if I could.

I arrived at 1pm and a lot of things were sold out and there was no wait, but luckily I preordered two days before and they had reserved everything I wanted! Super convenient and highly recommend doing an online order. When you do online order, just make sure you put the correct time and date and just show up. They didn't email me when my items were ready for pick up (the confirmation email says they will). I honestly didn't expect much from this Bakery but honestly, it's really good!!! The bread are slightly sweet but even complimented the savory Pastries. The hotdog one was definitely my favorite. Prices are pretty amazing for the quality too.
