Gourmet Mexican food. Not your everyday Mexican restaurant x the service was outstanding. Every bite was savored. We had the six sampler appetizer which was excellent and I had the pistachio mole pollo which was incredible. My husband had the carnitas and raved about it. The beans that came with the carnitas were the best we have ever had and the mango cake for dessert is over the top delicious. We will be back soon to try everything.

We both had the shrimp tacos, and they were unbelievable. I've been many times, my companion had never been and we were both thrilled.

When we arrived at the restaurant, they did not have our reservations and were very rude to us. They finally sat us at a table then did not bring our menus for almost 40 minutes and then were upset when we asked for them. There were three of us and they gave us only one menu even though they had plenty. The waiter was fine, but the hostess continue to treat us rudely throughout the entire experience, including saying they had no straws, even though there were straws on the bar, and they had just given straws to another table. I have never been treated so rudely and disrespectfully! I do not usually write reviews when they are going to be negative, but our experience was truly appalling.

The noise level was AWFUL! We couldn't hear ourselves think, much less talk. One of our dishes had to be sent back b/c it arrived cold! It took forever before our presence was acknowledged. Not going there again!

Overall it was a big disappointment. The food here is really good but the service was the worst ever. Such a shame really because this place had potential. The food and drinks took forever to come out. They never brought me the soup I ordered, so I ended up canceling it once I finished eating the other food I ordered. They charged me a forced kitchen fee of over 3%, which is ridiculous- (I mean really! We are in a restaurant… the use of kitchen is an obvious necessity and I should not have to pay extra for it). Furthermore, they tried to round UP for paying cash!! I had exact change and refused to pay extra for paying cash. This made no sense whatsoever since when you pay cash the restaurant saves on paying the merchant fees they usually accrue from credit/debit card users. All in all, I won’t go back to this restaurant, which is a shame because the food I was able to try was really good. If you are in the business of a restaurant though, you have to get the service part right and I have never had a worse experience.

After hearing so many of my friends rave about Tequila Museo Mayahuel, the time had come. A coworker and I had tickets to see the Golden Girls live show nearby and made reservations. The drinks were PERFECTION. Our meals were so delicious and the service was beyond compare! What a wonderful evening!

Sat at the bar to watch the World Series. Non plussed service cordial but disinterested but took my drink order as I had a tasty cold pint and ordered the grilled fish tacos. Blue corn tortillas with grilled peppers and onions with a spicy salsa all tasty. What was strange was a small serving of white rice perfectly cooked but accompanied by nothing...no beans, veggies or anything! Would have been nice.:')

Atmosphere felt more like a sports bar with all the football being played instead of a Mexican restaurant. Chips were fresh and homemade. My dish was disappointing. Adodobadado tasted liked mole with the special house sauce. I was expecting different flavor profile. The presentation was creative and ascetically pleasing. The lentil soup had great taste. The taster was disappointing as it had multiple bites with cactus

Mayahuel is one of my wife’s and my favorite spots in Sacramento. Great food, great cocktails, great service, and an amazing atmosphere—it checks every box. You do pay a little more than other places, but it’s absolutely worth it.

We started with chips, salsa, and guacamole—all fresh, flavorful, and perfectly mild. Feeling boozy, we tried a tequila flight (blanco, reposado, and añejo). The pours are small, so unless you’re a big tequila fan, I’d stick with cocktails. The drinks here are excellent—try the Paloma, Mayahuel Fresca, or La Flor if you like a little spice.

We shared the brochetas de chorizo (great bites) and the carne con chile entrée, which I highly recommend. Warm, rich, and comforting—perfect for a cold, windy day. The asada tacos are also excellent if you want something lighter.

The ambiance is beautiful, especially in October with their Día de los Muertos display. Parking can be tight, but there’s a garage right next door. Pro tip: the IMAX theater is a 30-second walk away—perfect for a dinner-and-a-movie date.

Make a reservation if you’re going on a weekend or during lunch/dinner hours—Mayahuel fills up fast!

Wish I could comment on the food. Made a reservation with opentable for 7pm after my Ironman race. Got an email from them an hour before offering a “friendly reminder” they close at 7. So, why are you offering reservations? Then we had to try to find an alternative on short notice and tired legs. Totally unprofessional.

Made a reservation for 7pm after my ironman race. Wanted to make sure we had plans locked in and was really looking forward to the food. They emailed just before with a “friendly reminder “ that they close at 7. Why did you accept the reservation? Thanks for ruining my plans. Complete amateurs. Avoid
