My coworkers and I were so excited that Mikuni opened down the street from our office! It's a great location for all those working near by. We came in during lunch on a weekday and were quickly seated, however the restaurant is much smaller than I expected so I can imagine the waits can get long. The service was fairly quick. Our meal was served within 15 minutes of ordering - which was great for our hour lunch! The tempera green beans were delish and our rolls were tasty too. I haven't been to mikuni in awhile, but I noticed that they revamped their menus and they're much nicer. They also clearly lay out their lunch specials and happy hour offerings. We can't wait to be back for happy hour really soon!

I like mikunis for sushi. Most don't because they are sauce heavy, but I love it!Tommy roll for the win!My issue... cost! Oy! For a Tommy roll alone plus tax was 29$. Not happening ever again. Which is sad.I'm bummed they moved the location too. It was at arden mall.

Fun place lively, some favorites not as good as usual. Good service other than hostess selection for seating needed to change seating. $$$$ cost didn't reflect price on menu drinks and food.

Really nice and hip ambiance. All the food was delicious. Apps are on the smaller side. Unfortunately I was so hungry after my drs appt that I forgot to take pictures after the calamari lol Apps: calamari and karage. Calamari was super tender with very light breading. The jalapeños on top added a little kick. Delicious sauce. Karage had large chunks but only about 6 pieces. Another great sauce came with it. If you're with a large group you'll have to order extra and prices aren't cheap. Jerry roll: very large. Each piece had 2 tempura shrimps in it, crab, avocado and cooked shrimp. Covered in eel sauce. Could definitely eat this on its own without apps. Chirashi Don: loaded with fresh fish and came with a little egg omelet which was a nice touch. They had more fish in them some other bowls we've had at different restaurants. Kids bento: picked two items and came with rice. Ordered chicken teriyaki and Ca roll for my daughter. She is only 1.5 years so took a lot home. They used chicken breast so a little dry. They served it with one slice of orange and cherry tomato. A little odd. Wish it would have been a couple slices of orange. Food was really good. Apps are small. Actual meals and rolls were good size but all food is definitely on the pricier side. Probably not a casual dinner. Definitely a special date night spot. They do offer happy hour, which we just missed. The options looked good, so maybe try HH first.

The food was good. The place had a modern vibe. The portions were good. I had the tan tan men which lacked spice but was good size and tasted good. My wife had the tempura appetizer, agedashi tofu and we shared the johnny sushi. all were good.

I. Love. Mikuni. Enough said. I used to go to the old location in the arden mall when I was younger and loved it but it wasn't until recently visiting their new location on fair oaks that I remembered why. This realization was quickly followed by remorse of all those wasted years not going to Mikuni's. Sigh. Anyhow the reason I love Mikuni's aside from their fair prices, bite sized rolls and dark moody ambiance is their flavors. Their miso soup is perfect. It's got the right amount of saltiness, umami, tofu and seaweed. I also adore their freaky edamame. I've tried other restaurants and to make it at home but there's just nothing that compares. And finally their zig zag hand roll and fair oaks are just so delightful. Hands down favorite sushi restaurant in Sacramento. The service is very attentive and quick as well. Ooh and they have booth seating;)

First time trying here! Love the place, love the food and their sushi is the best! First time trying tan tan ramen for a long time coz I usually order Tonkatsu ramen. Luckily I did, it was so good, the spice level is great and the soup is hot! Love the place and the vibe. Just a little bit too pricey I guess for the usual Japanese food. But totally would go back again.

Had the freaky Brussels and the garlic salmon plate. The Brussels were nice and crispy and well seasoned, those I would recommend-mainly the reason for the 3 stars. I ordered the garlic salmon as recommended and was greatly underwhelmed. It was bland, and the sauce was essentially just mashed avocado. Sadly the whole plate lacked flavor, and for 22 dollars, I was really hoping for something greater. With other Japanese restaurants in the area I'm not sure I'll be giving it another try even though I've enjoyed other Mikuni locations in the past.
