Fantastic food, service and vibrant (but not obnoxiously so) atmosphere. We had a seasonal dish and our table when silent. You know its good food when people stop talking to eat. Will return again. And I LOVE that they locally source!

Mother is hands down my favorite restaurant in Sac. I am a card-carrying carnivore but I love flavorful, well prepared veg dishes and Mother always delivers. Everything is fresh, vibrant, and the best possible expression of the seasonal bounty this region offers.

I’ve lived in the area for years and never knew about this little spot. Super cute atmosphere inside and delicious food. I had a mushroom po’boy and a side of wedge fries. Also had the s’mores pie
So delicious! Ordered ravioli and smores pie dessert and if I could have a last meal on earth it would be this!

I used to love the old Mother, but this was my first visit to the reopened site. I was early, nobody else was there, though they were doing a lot of takeout. I ordered the beets, and strawberries, very nice, and the squash latkes. Now, I've been eating latkes my whole life. I know what they're supposed to be and was looking forward to a,squash version. Imagine my surprise when the dish came out with 2 inch high wedges of what looked like pureed (?) squash cake! The top was browned dark like from the oven. While the sauce was flavorful and the sauteed veggies very nice, the cake was rather flavorless. I would not ever tell a chef how to prepare their dishes, but I suggest, at least re-naming this one. I may try Mother again, but this time was very disappointing.
VERY Vegan 💪🏼 Turned the tables on my carnivorous friends, where THEIR options were limited. The sustainable future IS Mother!

We had the hummus with falafel ‘appetizer’, which was big enough for a main, the farro salad, and the cauliflower curry; all were delicious and beautifully presented. It was more than we could eat so we took some home. We also loved the decor and the old punk and early new wave music playing that particular night. Great spot on a lively street!
Excellent food and service. We absolutely loved it. Between the aromas and the flavors, all top notch. The coconut cauliflower rice, the nut burger, the bread pudding, the asparagus all highly recommended.

I'm surprised at how good the food was!
One of the best meals and experiences I've had in recent years. Everything i tasted was exceptional. The chile verde. The falafel. The salad. The wedge fries (to die for). The wine. Well worth it in every way.
Mother is always quality and delicious food with efficient and kind service. Been here with larger groups, and smaller ones, and they handled both in stride (even with my indecisive mother in law!).
The food is a little pricier but you pay for what you get! My favorites include the mushroom po boy, mushroom flatbread (it was on special ONCE please make it a regular item!) And the bitter kale Cesar!
Best wedge fries I've ever had! 🙂↕️👍🏻
Love this new location. The food is delicious. Everything we ate was great. One drawback is the prices. I couldn’t believe they charge $3 to add a slice of cheese to nut burger.
