Very trendy coffee/macha shop with an industrial vibe. I decided to give them a try and the place was packed with a younger crowd. Updating that this place has become even more popular and there's frequently a line out the door with waits for parking during popular times. I've actually driven past instead of going in a couple of times as I could see it was going to take too long. They don't offer advanced/online ordering - probably because they would get swamped even worse. But just be aware you could be in for a long delay.
Parking was a bit difficult as it's a smallish lot shared with multiple businesses, but lots of movement so shouldn't have to wait long.
I like my plain drip/brew coffees (or press/pour-over in fancier spots) so my baseline preference is a smooth, medium coffee without sharp or bitter notes. I usually add some sugar and a dash of dairy for my perfect cup.
Offbeat's blend didn't really do it for me. It's not bad but has some complex overtones that I'm not looking for. Their macha and espresso drinks are way more popular so think that's what I'll have to try next time.
I think they solidified a new rule of thumb for me where if a coffee shop doesn't have a station where I can add my own sugar and dairy (had to ask for it behind the counter here), I probably won't like their coffee.
Their staff was super friendly and fast and I really enjoyed the energy. Every seat was filled and there was a steady stream of customers. So if you want to enjoy your drink in an active environment then this is your place!
As a counterpoint I'd offer up 5-sips on Freeport for a much more mellow vibe and excellent coffee. Both are really good coffee shops but very different from each other. Definitely recommend trying out Offbeat though!

The place was nice and the atmosphere good. Two of my friends ordered the matcha lattes and they gave them a 6. My other friend gave her vanilla latte a 7.5. I however was not able to review a drink because they didn’t have what I needed to drink. I realize decaf is not for everyone but I can’t have caffeine so I wanted a decaf BSL but they didn’t have decaf beans….so there. They said they are working on it so maybe in the future I’ll be able to review a drink.

The “twice matcha” makes you wonder why no other cafe makes their matcha this way. It is out of this world delicious with a rich matcha flavor and creamy texture. It’s like drinking velvet. The cream on top of this drink contains dairy, so be mindful of that.

Cool place. I got the double matcha with whole milk. It was a little on the sweet side, but pretty good. It could have had a stronger matcha flavor; it seemed a bit too milky for me. There was also a lot of ice in it. Next time I'll try their regular matcha latte (hot version). The place was very spacious and the line moved quickly. I'll be back when I'm in the area since good matcha is hard to find in Sacramento (in my experience).

Amazing drinks, amazing service! G was at the register and helped me navigate the menu. They suggested the Saigon Cinnamon, which perfectly fit the weather for the day and tasted delicious. I also got my girlfriend a double matcha and she already has another craving to go again. Cannot wait to go again and thank you G for making the experience so awesome!

I visited Offbeat Coffee a few days ago and had a really good experience. The shop has a welcoming, relaxed vibe and the staff were friendly and attentive. The coffee I ordered was smooth, flavorful, and well balanced, definitely one of the better cups I’ve had in Sacramento recently.
The interior is comfortable with plenty of natural light, making it a nice spot to sit for a bit or enjoy a quiet break. Everything felt clean and well organized, and the service was quick even though it was a bit busy.
Overall, a great place for quality coffee. I’d definitely come back and try more of their drinks.

I get the hype now. Prob one of the best matcha spots in Sac! Definitely come early bc we went at 12pm on a Saturday and prob waited around 40 mins. Was it worth it, yes LOL. We ordered the twice matcha and twice hojicha. Can't comment on the hojicha, but the matcha was so light, so creamy, so smooth. There's a beautiful balance when sipping it vs using a straw, bc you get a taste of the sweet and creamy matcha cream and a sip of the matcha latte. I was actually quite surprised by how spacious it was. It's pretty big inside, but bc it's such a popular spot, most spots are taken. There were a lot of people studying and working, but personally I think the atmosphere is a bit be too loud to work. The staff were so friendly and fairly quick with our drinks. I also ordered a Matcha Tea (matcha + water) for a friend, and after the staff made it, they actually called me back bc they noticed it was a lil chunky and wasn't smooth enough for their liking. I was so impressed that they actually quality check their drinks despite it being so busy for them. Definitely recommend checking offbeat if you're in sac; there is a parking lot outside but it gets filled quickly, so come early if you don't wanna wait! :)

I visited Offbeat Coffee last week and had a great experience. I ordered a latte, which was smooth, flavorful, and well-balanced. I also tried a couple of their snacks, and everything tasted fresh and paired nicely with the coffee. The café has a clean, relaxing atmosphere with plenty of space to sit and enjoy your drink. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better.
Overall, a really pleasant spot for quality coffee and a comfortable place to unwind. I’d definitely come back.

Best matcha in town
One of the best mochas in Sacramento. Staff is cheerful and pleasant. Like the sleek, minimalist interior. Tolerant of me leaning my bicycle on the wall inside!

The double matcha is great. But very little seating resulting in 50% of patrons either standing or having to leave after getting their drink. Ive actually never once been able to sit down in this cafe to drink my coffee. Ive always had to take it to go due to no seating. For that i have to give 4 stars.

Perfect coffee and matcha, perfect place to chill.
I'm pretty sure this is some of the best matcha in Sacramento. Never bitter always creamy.
The cold brew with the hojicha top is unique
