Well no surprise here, apparently solution to the transient drug problem is to hire them. Had a cashier who was out of her mind tonight. Asked her if she was okay with no response, tried to let the security guard know, he also wasn't responsive. Beware aware don't go there!

I've been shopping at this location for over 25 year, and let me tell you it's no longer a pleasant experience. The parking lot is over run by homeless sleeping in front of the store and suspicious individuals roaming around. The store has installed electronic security at the self checkout due to high volume theft. This store needs to up their security for the safety of their customers. The staff are friendly, however always seem very rushed and stressed. The service deli and bakery are clean and well kept. Unfortunately, I will no longer be shopping at this location for safety reasons.

GHETTO HELLSCAPE!!! Do you want to cosplay being a felon in prison? Go no further than the Safeway on Alhambra! You'll be surrounded by armed guards, fences, and security gates that are wired with alarms! Do you have a prescription that was called in hours ago? Prepare to stand in line for twenty minutes only to be told that a portion of your prescription will be ready in another twenty minutes! The other prescription? They don't have it in stock! They don't have a reliable delivery system and you're going to be waiting days, if not weeks, on end for your refill. Want to use the bathroom while you wait for your prescription that should have been waiting for you? Good luck! The bathrooms are fenced off! The only way to get to them is to wait in line to get through the "out" gates -yes! There are "in" gates" and "out" gates, just like prison!- but wait, it gets better! The only way to open an "out" gate is to swipe your receipt! But you don't have one b/c all you want to do is use the goddamned bathroom! If you manage to make it to the bathroom, you will soon realize that the doors are locked w/ a secret code! You then have to grab an employee who will accompany you to the bathroom and enter the code for you so that you can then use a completely FILTHY and disgusting facility complete with three unflushed toilets. You'll be privy to such phrases as "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!" uttered by a mother to her child. If I could give negative stars, I would. NEGATIVE TEN STARS!

Was there a couple of weeks ago. As usual, there is only one cashier on duty, no baggers. 9pm at night and 12 people in line. Hadn't been there in years, but stopped at that location only because I was at the hospital visiting a sick relative. Saddest thing is that the corporate level managers do not care about that particular Safeway. It has never been run well, and now it's just intolerable. After buy8nf 100 dollars worth of groceries, should the customer have to bag their own.? Might as well go to Walmart or Winco. I havr complained twice over the many years I've lived here, both email and phone calls, and never received any response. Leads me to believe this Safeway is in a blue collar, working class area, and it's been sorely neglected. My sympathy to the checkets.

I've been to this store twice but never again, I went to do some shopping but no shopping carts what so ever. I will not be back staff are rude when asking for a cart. I will do my shopping else where.

Locked up the alcohol meds this weekend. Understaffed for new system. Barely tolerable lines are now insufferable. The old fashioned shopping was the last feature that made this location worth using. I'm not going to wait 5-10 minutes for Tylenol to be un locked, than wait 10-15 minutes in line to pay. It's too much. Store is on death spiral.

It is the only grocery store in walking distance in midtown Oak Park. I love the customer service, the new young blonde girl could use more training with the customer service skills but all other cashiers are very professional. I love the greeting and the friendliness that I receive at the cashier counter. I love the membership clip coupon service.

I called the day before to place a balloon order and I changed my mind several times before finalizing the order, but the gal on the phone was really nice and patient. When I went to pick up the balloons half an hour later than expected, my balloons weren't ready yet. They didn't forget about the order since they quickly saw the slip and began blowing them up. I'm not sure what happened but luckily it took less than 10 minutes to put together the bouquet. I will say, they're pretty pricey. For a bouquet of 20 balloons, I paid about $50! I then left for my event and realized we were going to need more balloons. I called the store again and the gal was nice about it. She had the balloons ready for my coworker to pick up right away. The location isn't the best because it's on a busy street with a small lot but it's super convenient if you're heading to the Sequoia at the Cannery down the street!

I feel as though this Safeway takes pleasure in making your shopping experience as unpleasant and unworthwhile as they possibly can. From the disgustingly, filthy parking lot to their knack for being out of many key items on my shopping list, I find myself cursing out loud constantly throughout the store. I have been shopping here for more than 30 years and have seen this location go down the toilet over the last 10 years. They clearly don't care about their customers. I try to shop at other stores or locations, but this store is close by so I only have myself to blame for continuing to shop here.

Another crappy experience in the worst run Safeway in America. The manager should be fired immediately. Went to the deli counter, the woman behind the counter saw me as she was finishing with a customer and hurried to the back area and never came back. Laziest person alive. Saturday at noon. Ridiculous. I hate the disgusting spot as it is, but a manager sleeping at the wheel and a deli counter worker who hides from customers.

They Changed hours. This somehow made the staff ruder. I think some regular late night customers (like myself) were confused by the new hostility. A security person yelled at me at one point. However there was still long lines at the 2 open registersCashiers made a point of yelling a personal conversation over us customers.I put up with this place because it's close. No more.

The evening manager is always so friendly! I usually use self check out and he's been very helpful whenever I need a produce code. The older Mexican gentleman on cash register is always friendly as well. I get off work late so self checkout is sometimes closed by then but I don't mind going to the register if he's there. My only issue is with the new guards. They're always blocking the entry talking to girls (other employees i think?) and it's uncomfortable trying to get around them. Feels pretty redundant to have them there if they're not going to do their jobs. The area is kinda sketchy and has lots of transient folks so I get the need for guards, but I almost feel like I'm interrupting their social gathering by even entering the store. I've also seen them just straight up hang out in the parking lot flirting while transient people harass customers trying to enter the store. I miss the old guards because they at least made more of an effort to keep the store clear in the evenings.

The location here is good for the local community. As soon as I walked in, they were security there. They provided the inside that they are there for protection. Even though the store small you can definitely find what you need. Everything is cram together since it's a small store, but they have checkout lanes self checkout lanes, which is great.
