The ice cream itself was exactly what I expect from Salt & Straw - great, quality, creatively flavored ice cream. No issues there.
I fully respect that retail stores have policies and preferred customer flow, and I’m generally happy to follow them. In this case, though, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. I was literally about two steps from the ordering spot and was the next customer to be served, with no line behind me. Despite this, I was told my order would not be taken unless I exited the store and re-entered through the other entrance.
What added to the confusion was that the preferred entrance had ropes partially blocking it in an unusual way, which made it appear as though it was not meant to be used at that moment. Given that, I entered through the other side in good faith.
The interaction was with a tall, slender gentleman behind the counter. I’m not sharing this to single out an individual and I assume he was doing what he was guided to do. Having to leave the store and come back in solely to be served at the exact same spot felt excessive and, frankly, crossed the line from policy enforcement into something that felt like harassment. A simple explanation or a polite note for future visits would have been more than sufficient.
I’m sharing this because the experience felt out of step with the welcoming service I associate with your brand.

The ice cream here is very good, and I’ve visited this place many times. The quality and flavors are consistently nice. However, this time the service experience has been disappointing. The staff often seems impatient, and orders take a long time to be prepared even when the store is not very busy. This affects the overall experience. I hope the customer service can be improved.

It's really nice to find more than just vanilla in the lactose free flavors. Everything that we've had so far has been really good and I try to find excuses to at least walk by and see if there is a flavor that I can't resist. The lack of indoor seating is a bummer, but it isn't enough to keep me away.

Searching for ice cream was a toss up with some good places but I was looking more specifically for ice cream that are specialty flavors instead of your normal scoops of chocolate, vanilla, etc.
This was the one to go to. I ordered (1) scoop of the Chewy Molasses Cookies with Rum Caramel. It had an excellent taste which was smooth and inviting. They advise you it contains alcohol but you could barely taste any of it, and if you do, it’s nothing out of the ordinary to where you say to yourself, “this tastes like alcohol”. You will be good.
Before I came to the conclusion of getting this scoop, I sampled a few flavors. PLEASE sample the flavors. I felt like I was going to be a burden trying some but the young lady who helped me, insisted to try as many as I wanted. So it is expected to try as much as you want before making your decision.
It wasn’t too busy going inside. Obviously it can be slightly delayed with people who are sampling before ordering, but don’t let that deter you from doing the same.
Parking seemed to be paid street parking. There’s a lot right next door but a lot of is labeled Employee Parking and I wasn’t sure what the other portion was labeled as.
If you are in this area, definitely try this place for the choices in ice cream they have. You won’t regret it. If I could ordered more than one flavor, Ike all of them, I would. Honey Lavender would have been my next choice.

Twice I’ve tried this place and I just do not like it. If you like classic ice cream or gelato, this is not a place for you. This is a place for people who hate ice cream. People that like salted caramel cookies and very crumbly cookies and it’s just that in ice cream form. Even the sorbet is not sour or sweet. It’s just bitter and kinda terrible. I keep tricking myself into going here after a few cocktails and at this point, this review is for me so I don’t go again. Here’s hoping google reminds me that I have tried half their flavors and spend $8-9 per single scoop because obviously I’m going to buy something after trying the entire inventory and tip and I still cannot get behind it.

This place is disgusting anyone who says otherwise is either pregnant feeding into their “weird” food combination or hate themselves enough to get something like hazelnut cookies and cream which in theory sounds good but once you take that first lick its the saltiest thing ever.
