This restaurant is so clean and the employee are always on point just like the food super recommended this restaurant to my friends and loved once
Fried catfish bomb. Chicken bomb. fries, fresh and crispy. mac & cheese missing a bit of salt and pepper but it’s better than most I’ve tasted.
The food was a little extra salty than I like, but the Shrimp Po Boy was really good with bread that held up. And the fries were decent as well. The fried pickles didn't need the extra salt though.
I just moved here and discovered this place and was very happy to enjoy the catfish nuggets which is a filet that has been cut into bite size pieces and the jumbo shimp that were really jumbo with light batter and krinkle french fries that were not over cooked!!! You have to put this place on the list of must go to and you will be pleasantly surprised ?
Great experience! picked up my order and had the best fish, customer service at 6:30 pm. Nicest while extremely professional ? a gem ?
I like it, its a quiet little place with really good food. It's slightly awkward if you sit in there and eat but I think it's only because it's so quiet in there. But really, the food is fantastic and my son is always wanting to go there to eat.
If you're in the mood for a bunch of fried goodness, this is your place. So far I have tried the chicken wings, catfish and cod and they are all good choices full of flavor, especially when dipped in the Skip's sauce. A pick 4 platter is good for two very hungry people and includes fries and a bread roll. This costs around $30.
Parking: Lot shared with Grocery Outlet
Dietary restrictions: Halal food. Not recommended for vegetarians as most of the food is meat or fish based.
When it comes to my two favorite comfort foods, fish & chicken are definitely tops on my list. And why did I wait so long to try the food here? "Skip's Fish & Chicken" has a very respectable amount of 4 and 5 star reviews and I just had to see if it compared to some of the more well-known spots in the area. This is one of their four locations; the two others are on Florin Rd./Stockton Blvd. in South Sacramento and off of Truxel Rd./San Juan Rd. in South Natomas. They also have a location in Brooklyn, New York in case you wish to enjoy Skip's on the East Coast. However, I am focusing specifically on this location. Centered directly on busy Watt Ave. and adjacent to Whitney Ave. in the Arden-Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento, Skip's has been serving the community since July 2018. They have very respectable hours being open 7 days a week; Monday through Saturday from 11am-8pm and Sunday from 12-5pm. Parking is relatively easy to find as this strip mall shares other major businesses including Autozone & Grocery Outlet. During my visit, I arrived on 12/24/2021 around 2:30pm. It was not too busy as I was able to walk right to the front register to place my order.Since I wanted the best of both worlds, I ended up going with the "2-Piece Chicken Tenders" and "2-Piece Fish" with a side of fries and a small drink. Total price for everything was a very reasonable $13 + tax. I also requested 3 sauces; "Skip's Sauce", "Tartar", and "Hot" as well as a few packets of ketchup for my fries. My meal was ready in just under 15 minutes. Everything was piping hot as when I picked up my order. Since I opted to dine in, the tables were spaced accordingly for social distancing. And as I am writing this review, many of the lesser popular menu items are not available due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As far as the fish, it was crispy with a nice coating of batter without being overbearingly greasy. The homemade tartar sauce had a nice balance of vinegar while the hot sauce pairs up perfectly with the fish. The chicken was absolutely delicious as they did not skimp on the meat. Furthermore, it was tender and moist while the batter had a nice crunch. Both the chicken and fish tasted great in Skip's secret sauce (think of it as a type of sweet, tangy, thousand island). My fries were also delicious and very hot like my chicken and fish. All in all, "Skip's Fish & Chicken" is a great, above average hole-in-the-wall restaurant that I highly recommend. The prices are very reasonable while the customer service is top notch. And if you live within a certain radius, they also deliver via-DoorDash. I definitely want to come back here to try some of their alternative offerings including shrimp, oysters, and their Po Boy sandwiches. With that said and done, I am giving Skip's an above average four star rating.
they have an menu that's eclectic but incredibly tasty. Mac chz great, grits so so , but they do something with there french fries that is off the hook.
Everything is halal!! They also told me all locations are halal! They have halal stamped on their menu as well. Everything was on point, crispy chicken, yummy gumbo, slushy lemonade. Highly recommended!

Hands down skips has the best fried fish I've ever eaten. Everything was fresh and made when ordered. If you like great food skips is a must try. Deep fried corn, shrimp, wings, I mean everything was delicious. When I'm on that side of town I'm definitely going to skips, see you guys there.
I give them 5 stars because when they first open the food was good and still is...but the size of the portions and the fish has gotten smaller but keep that good seasonings ill be back
18 dollars I got three shrimp and 4 tiny wing sections ..I wanted fried okra instead of fries ...as she offered ...I still got fries . I asked for my okra she wouldn't make it right ...but did offer to charge extra for the side! No thanks I can get better rations at a prison camp .. never again skips never again I left hungry ....thanks for the over priced toddler snack ......
Okra is good, chicken was well cooked. Prices are a little high and the wait is a little long, but only cause they are actually cooking your food instead of just heating up food cooked that morning.
Skip's has become our go-to place for fried things, and not because it's down the street. The chicken is consistently good, and the catfish is awesome. Definitely load up on the skip's sauce, which is tangy and not too heavy. One caveat is the fries are pretty standard crinkle cut, but that's what I expected going on to it place.
