Title: Hidden Gem in Oak Park - A Must-Visit Speakeasy!I have frequented Butterscotch Den multiple times and every visit has been an absolute delight. From the moment you walk in, the staff exudes warmth and professionalism, from the welcoming hostess to the talented mixologists crafting delicious drinks. Speaking of drinks, I have never had a bad one here - each sip is a flavorful experience. The ambience of the venue is top-notch, and the clientele always seems to add to the overall charm. It truly feels like a hidden gem in the Oak Park community - a little piece of sweetness waiting to be discovered. This place is a public speakeasy that I recommend to everyone looking for a great spot to enjoy an adult beverage. While I haven't tried the food service myself, I've seen others cooking their steaks at the cook table, and it looks like a fun and unique experience. The camaraderie among the guests at the cooking stations adds to the lively atmosphere of the place.During my last visit, the venue was celebrating birthdays and even had a bubble gun for guests to enjoy during their festivities. It's clear that the staff at Butterscotch Den goes above and beyond to create a memorable experience for their patrons.A special shoutout to the Butterscotch Den staff - you are all truly amazing! If you haven't had the chance to experience this place yet, I highly recommend you do. Don't miss out on this wonderful spot in Oak Park!I hope this review helps capture your positive experiences at Butterscotch Den!

This spot was such a fun discovery. We're trying to go to the soul food spot down the road but they had hella wait and we're feeling hungry after a long photoshoot. So we walked in and the hostess sat us at the bar and it turns out you cook your own food here. There's a communal grill in the middle of the room and you order your protein and then go up there and make it with a bunch of tipsy strangers. It was fun to ppl watch drunk ppl grilling food. Men, women whose really the best at grilling? Come here and duel it out.

I asked for a double whiskey sour and the bartender said something mixology related and I was like whatever. What I got was a whiskey sour about the amount of liquid it would take to fill a standard tumbler halfway, $12. Now, granted it was a good tasting whiskey sour, but not a double for sure...I would have been fine with the drink if it had been about 4 times the size. I will not be coming back

I gave 2-stars because the ambiance and cocktail menu would make this a good place to go for drinks. The service that night was very poor. We waited 20+mins to get our order taken after our server brought drinks, 1hr+ before we actually got food, and then 10+min after she brought the check. We got so fed up we went to the front. When the server came, she complained she was serving 35 customers - no apology, no attempt to make it right. Then there is the food. It almost seems like an afterthought. Limited items that you have to cook yourself (wasn't aware when we made reservations) - I don't know where this trend came from, but I cook at home every night and paying $42 for a steak I have to cook seems like a bad idea. I watch people trying to cook and many have no idea how to judge on a super hot grill in low light. Do not recommend this place for food, just drinks.

Got to love this place! Great service with great staff. Good drinks at a reasonable price. Don’t feel rushed to have us out. Haven’t tried the do-it-yourself grills yet.

Awesome atmosphere, great drinks, and a unique way to have a fun dinner. You do cook your own steaks, so keep that in mind. The Sirloin and the New York were great with the house seasonings. 4 minutes on each side and you're good to go. If you're in the area, do not pass this place up, I can't recommend it enough.

This place is the best in Sac. The atmosphere is so cool and sharing a grill with a bunch of strangers can actually be a lot of fun. Met some new people while grilling. Drinks are wonderful.

9 4 2024Was here on a Saturday night. Reserved a week prior for an early dinner shortly after we attended an event. The place isn't packed but we heard that it gets crowded later on in the night. We saw this as highly recommended on Yelp but had to read and ask questions about what to do.When we arrived, true enough as one friend said no big sign but just the door with the restaurants name-very simple. The inside was dark with minimal lighting. We were seated right across the bar. On the other end of the room was a stage. In the middle was the communal grill station with all the spices, condiments and utensils. I ordered the espresso martini and hubs ordered the den old fashioned for our drinks. Main course was Ribeye and Top Sirloin cooked/grilled about 4 minutes per side to get it to medium. Had the garlic bread and veggie sides cooked for 7 minutes. The 12 oz ribeye was pricey for $42 and that's my only complaint. The Bourbon Butterscotch pudding came in highly recommended but too bad they no longer serve it so we opted for the Pink Squirrel which was a great substitute but still want my pudding haha.I was not really excited to cooking/grilling/spicing it up myself but it was a different kind of experience, something out of the ordinary that I would do. Feel free also to ask the servers/staff for questions if you're not sure of what to do and do not assume. This place is a really good place to have some cocktails. Will definitely be back for some drinks.

Perfect for date night! My husband and I came here on a random evening and I'm so glad we did. The staff members were very welcoming and friendly. The bartenders were attentive, fun,And knowledgeable on drink recommendations. I was super impressed that they had Uncle Nearest whisky :-DThe Christmas decorations were over the top.. in the BEST way imaginable!! The environment was super cozy. I loved the vibe, and the people in there. Cooking our own food made date night that much more romantic! Can't wait to go back.
