We had a reservation for 6:45pm and we prepaid $60 to hold it. They guarantee a 2hr reservation, which in this case would be till 8:45pm. At 4:30pm I called them and asked them if we could move our reservation to 7:30pm as we had some car trouble and they said yes no worries. We got there at 7:30pm. We ordered some food at 7:45pm and they said we can’t serve you food as you have to leave at 8:15pm and it takes us 20-30 mins to serve food. We said well we have a two hour reservation and the bar is empty (it was 30% empty at the time) and they said sorry we can’t serve you anything else. So even though we prepaid $60 for two hours we were rudely kicked out in 45 mins with only time to have one drink. 7:30pm-8:15pm. When we were leaving the manager came to apologize and offered to refund the $60. Mentioning this experience as they had enough opportunity to just honor our reservation but during the short time we were there 3 different people said “let me check” … and then would come back and say we had to leave … even when 12 other seats were vacant near us. My take is that this bar is trying to create a feeling of exclusivity, which is not a bad thing, but they haven’t yet figured out how to actually deliver on it. So it just comes across as fake and pretentious where the focus is on creating a facade rather than customer service. I had decided to try out this bar based on the reviews. So for folks who have been to other “speak easy” places in other cities around the world, just a heads up that it’s not really that kind of place. Other than the gimmicky “hidden” entrance; you easily see once you are in that it’s just a regular bar.

Well let me just move into The Roost because I just found the PERFECT bar! You want a unique speakeasy bar experience? THE ROOST. You want tasty bites and delicious cocktails? THE ROOST. Looking to impress friends/date(s) on an adventurous night out? GO TO THE ROOST. I can't a speak highly enough about this experience (and it truly is an *experience*)! I decided to stop by here as a group of three one random Friday night and was not expecting much. Let me tell you, it went BEYOND my expectations. I won't spoil the speakeasy experience but be prepared to say "wow" once you get into the bar. You are welcomed with a house made aperitif to start off with and it was a great touch. Yummy too! They also give you water at your table (love this). We each ordered a drink that suited our tastes and we all loved them! They do have some pricier tastings on the menu but from what I saw, many people ordered single drinks. The karaage was a last minute order for our table and we couldn't eat it fast enough! Overall, this is a must in my books. It was worth both the wait (we didn't make a reservations so about 40mins) and the price (not "cheap" cocktails but not overly expensive either, you get what you pay for). #TeamRoost

Close your eyes and imagine you are transported back in time to the 1920s, during the Prohibition era, where the very first speakeasy came into fruition, because the sale or transportation of alcohol was illegal in the US. So imagine the hidden speakeasies that you had to learn from by word of mouth and how the secrecy of such an establishment was forbidden, or face being arrested. It is a secret and I don’t want to spoil the surprise on how to get there, but I guarantee that you will love it just as much as I did. I’ve been to plenty of speakeasies and bars around the world and none and I mean non compares to this one and has everyone beat as far as alcoholic beverages. Mind blown!!! If you want to stick to the theme of the 1920s, there’s a drink for you. Or the bartender can create one that matches your palette. Their expertise and their extensive selection sealed the deal. Floor to ceiling alcohol display is impressive. I enjoy grazing on appetizers while sipping on those delicious drinks. Amazing customer service and relaxing vibe! Worth the price point. Treat yourself!Six stars for the overall experience!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mandatory 20% tip on bill.Great atmosphere, great cocktails, great selection. Prices are a little high. Service is usually great. Let me tip 20% if my waiter/waitress is exceptional. I've had an apathetic waiter there once, and I wish I could have not tipped them. I would be here all the time if it wasn't so expensive.Only food is small appetizers/charcuterie.

Honestly super disappointing. We paid $50 for House old fashion cocktails. Tasted like watered-down whiskey without any cherries or oranges in the drink.. they even had the audacity to charge us 20% gratuity. I've had better drinks at a bowling alley. Save your money and go to a different place honesty shady Lady had much better drinks for way less of a price. Never coming back again.

The Roost is a very well hidden speakeasy; it took us a few minutes to figure out where it was. First, you check in at Urban Roots's front counter. Then they will direct you to a utility closet to knock on a door. THEN another door will open and finally, you will be entering the Roost. It was nice and cozy inside, with some accent brick walls and a feature wall full of liquors which was quite impressive to look at. The bartenders were busy making drinks, but yet were very attentive to our orders. Since we sat at the bar, we were had the opportunity to chat with one of the mixologists, Donnie, and it was really fun watching him making variety of cocktails. We ordered 5 different drinks during our visit and were happy with all of them. Out of the Rum old-fashioned, Amaretto sour, Matcha mama, MSG sound system, and Hot Toddy, my personal favorites were the Amaretto sour and the Hot Toddy. Donnie made the Amaretto sour so smooth and well-balanced with Rye Whiskey. Most importantly, it was not overly sweet which made it much more enjoyable. He also made a fancy Hot Toddy for me (because I was cold) by mixing sake and ginger into it. The result was the most sophisticated Hot Toddy I have ever imagined. My fiancé really liked the Rum old-fashioned because it was the perfect balance between the bitters and the sipping rum that Donnie recommended. It was a drink that was smooth and easy to drink with the perfectly crystal-clear ice cube sitting in the glass. We also ordered a side of Papayas Bravas to go with the drinks, and it was quite delicious with crispy tender potatoes. We highly recommend it!

Cute little speakeasy! It was easy to come for a walk-in as we came on Sunday, but I've heard a reservation are recommended. Bartenders were friendly, gave good recommendations and let us be. We got the matcha and passion fruit based drinks. Both are delicious! This is definitely a place to check out for a special occasion as the drinks are on the higher side and with inflation... need I say more? $18 for a cocktail is a splurge to treat yourself. The quality and balance of the drinks were great. We ordered the papas bravos and all I can't say is GET THEM. So simple, so good and the portion is solid for an appetizer. There's also a 20% gratuity that they're very transparent about so you can tip more at your discretion. Thanks for having us!

NOISY. Have to wait quite a bit to walk in. Then waited about ten minutes for waiter, we looked through menu and it was all the high priced options, so I prepared to order a normal gin and tonic. He tried to hard sell my friend and I, and did not take no for an answer until I politely said no THREE TIMES. We proceeded to order our simple drinks, and mind you they told us we could only be there for 45 minutes!! He then forgot about us for 20 minutes!!!! I finally got up and got the attention of a waitress who apologized and we were served within 5 minutes. Then he came over and comped one drink. Each drink was $27, for "normal" gin and tonic. My friend and I split the bill. Honestly I'd avoid unless this nonsense appeals to you. I can't wait to see what the owner has to say about this. Unbelievable.

Haven't tried the Roost's menu. Drinks and service are excellent so I'd be shocked if the food was anything less.
