So my sister ordered some Kaopiek from here, and it tasted like someone poured in so much MSG and salt into the soup. We had to dilute it almost at a ratio of 2:1 (2 cups water to 1 cup Kaopiek). I want to support local and especially this Mien-owned business, so please please taste the food before putting it out!

Nice place for dinner or to grab a snack. At midnight on Monday, there are not many places opened for inside dining. Good thing this place was still opened so we stopped by for a late dinner. We ordered a dish of beef larb and a bowl of kasoy. Food was decent and the service was great.

So surprised this place doesn't have at least 4 stars. I loved it! I'm Thai and my mom is from the northeast, near the Laotian border. This reminded me of Thailand and home cooking. The Thai sausages were fire . Juicy, flavorful, perfectly grilled. I savored every last drop. The papaya salad was delicious. I loved the sweet and tanginess. The server asked me how many peppers I wanted. Which I appreciated. In Thailand that is how they take our order. A couple friends and I came in after a concert. We were happy they stayed open late. We also ordered the larb, sticky rice, and kapoon. All were really good in my opinion. I felt like I was teleported to Southeast Asia out of Sacramento for a time being. The walls were the color of the Sacramento kings. That's cool. It looks a little divey but whatever. The food is where it's at! Our server was kind and attentive. Great experience. We will be back for sure!

I was pretty excited to find a new Laotian restaurant so I could get my Kapoon fix, but the experience at The Spot was just an OK in my book. The service could probably use a little work, maybe a smile would do? My bowl of kapoon seemed to have the right ingredients, lots of coconut milk, but was lacking some sparkle. Maybe a little more spicy heat would've helped? But compared to the ones I've had before in south central Sac it was not quite up to snuff. We also tried to stuffed chicken wings and it looked nice and all, but was lacking in flavor and was a bit bland. The sweet and sour sauce on the side seemed to help. Maybe some marinade for a few hours before cooking might have helped as well?Anyways, sad it wasn't up to expectations, but if you are right there and don't want to drive any farther, and want some laotian food, it's probably gonna hit the spot bwaha.

I ordered take out; papaya salad and Kapoon. I used to enjoy coming here when it was new because of the papaya salad. It had the right amount of spice, sweet, sour and funk. Delicious then. I just happened to be in the area and ordered Papaya and kapoon, because of old memories. I don’t know what happened, but both papaya and kapoon were very sweet. The taste of the papaya and kapoon had overwhelming cane sugar and pale in flavors of fermented funky padek to the point that I couldn’t finish beyond several bites. Disgusting. I felt like I gained a few cavities afterward. I might as well as eaten a handful of candy corn because that’s exactly how sweet it was. I had my 9 yr old tried the kapoon and she adamantly rejected and said IT’S too Sweet. She didn’t want it. We threw it out. I kind of want my money back. But I don’t ever want to step foot in that establishment again. They have lost a customer. I will not recommend this this to anyone. Horrible food. Shouldn’t even call it Lao Restaurant at this point because Lao food is known for padek not overly sweet sauce or dish. They gave Lao restaurant a bad name. This isn’t Lao food! Maybe this family own restaurant isn’t actually run by a lao family, because this wouldnt have pass the Lao dish standards. I’m done.

A popular establishment for the late night crowd. Right next to the casino on Stockton Blvd. this place is a total gem! It has a cool retro vibe and the staff is quick with the orders. We only waited 3-5 minutes for my entire order to come out.Laos Sausage - fatty and herbaceous in the inside, with a snap for the exterior. So a great texture contrast between soft and crisp!Kasoy - light broth, lots of toppings of meat and noodles. The rice noodles were thick and chewy, perfect to grab all the ground meat and veggies in the broth.Thai coffee - perfect for a hangover!

Not sure why they have such little stars! The food has always been really good and never lacking in flavors . The kaosoy was really good, but the broth was a bit on the sweet side. For me, that's an easy fix because I throw a boat load of peppers in it. We also got laarb spicy and it was truly spicy and really good . They kind of cut the beef in a way I wouldn't, but that doesn't change the flavor. We got papaya and it taste like a true Lao style. I got 7 peppers but could have used more . My niece loved her angel wings (which I didn't get a photo of). All in all... the spot is still a gem

I love the spot because it's always open late! We always get the kasoy and jumbo wings whenever we come! The wings are always juicy and delicious. The kasoy just rejuvenated my soul. We also like the beef larb here, we get mild cause they make it SPICY. I tried the salt and pepper chicken wings recently and that was bomb too. The crab cheese wontons here are also fire. Everything is so good for a late night spot! The service is pretty fast and it is spacious inside! We never have to wait to be seated cause it's usually not very full!
