The BEST GUMBO!!! Been coming here faithfully for it for over 5 years now. It’s consistently just as good as the first day I tried it. Plus Tori is the sweetest!!!

I’ve been to this place a few times i usually always get the red snapper and prawns which is delicious only down fall is for all the they give you one small tartar sauce. So disappointing. Now as for there gumbo has great flavor no shrimp just hella shrimp tales in there. I think I’m cool off of Tori’s for now

I ordered a meal consisting of catfish and prawns, but I only received the catfish. After enduring over an hour of waiting in the heat, with no air conditioning inside, I lacked the patience to check the bag before leaving. Everyone inside expressed their dissatisfaction, stating they had waited at least 40 minutes for their meals, while the cashier appeared indifferent. The quality of the food was a disgrace to soul food. I was profoundly disappointed after waiting so long for food that did not meet expectations. The greens were overly salty, the yams were unappetizing, and the catfish lacked seasoning. The peach cobbler was mediocre, 5/10. The only item I found enjoyable was the cornbread, which I would rate an 8 out of 10. This establishment is in dire need of improvement.

Beware with this restaurant!!! The price they advertise is not what they actually charge. $20 for a tiny thing of gumbo is a rip off. Should have gone somewhere else

I had high hopes for this place but when i got there the lady offered me a sample of gumbo which I did not care for but i was hungry and had heard nothing but good things about this place.Well I am extremely disappointed in the food. The mac and cheese tasted old and the yams were watered down with no flavor oh yeah the mac and cheese no flavor. Ordered the catfish and prawns and it came with hot water cornbread. Let’s go… the fish was undercooked and the shrimp was overcooked and the hot water cornbread isn’t even worth discussing. Never again will i waste my $35 there.

AT FIRST IT WAS OK(GUMBO)
The chicken burrito had bones in it , which is a turn off for me
The lady that takes orders on the phone yells at you
They give you too much cornbread
THIS IS NOT A REAL SOUL FOOD PLACE TO BEGIN WITH
(I RECOMMEND ALL CUSTOMERS GO TO BEAR WEST BBQ SOUL FOOD LOCATED IN NORTH HIGHLANDS
TORIS, HANDS ALL THE WAY DOWN

I just had the best Gumbo, Collard Greens, and Cornbread I've ever had in my life. The staff is very friendly. I'm absolutely coming here again.

Tori's is where they cook it root down. It doesn't get more authentic or independent than this. Generously portioned tasty vittles meet unassuming ambiance.

Tori’s Place, 1525 Grand Ave. in North Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights neighborhood, had 17 violations on Thursday, May 1.

Health inspectors shut down the restaurant, which specializes in Southern comfort food, due to live rats and other evidence of a rodent infestation.

Inspectors saw one rat crawling from the top equipment shelf in an unapproved back dry storage area onto the roof, and another rat on an electrical line behind a two-door household freezer/refrigerator in the same dry storage area.

Two live rats were spotted crawling on beams overhead.

There were more than 160 rat droppings throughout the facility, the May 1 report said, including on the floor behind a broken ice machine, in the front register area, on a dry storage shelf that held clean pots and pans in the kitchen and behind the “cat’s food and litter box.”

Bulk flour in the dry storage area was left uncovered.

The restroom door was unable to self-close.

A cooking pot was stored inside the mop sink, and inspectors observed a sticky fly trap on the ceiling in the middle of the kitchen.

The facility was missing a food manager’s certificate at time of the inspection

Tori’s Place was reinspected on Friday, May 2, and passed with a green placard.

A Sacramento Bee reporter reached out to Toni’s Place on Thursday but the owner was not available for comment.
