Awesome service and the wine was soooo good!

This place is a gem! I love wine tasting, but have had my fill of what seems to be the typical experience of Napa / Sonoma: standing at a bar while one staff person works the entire length of the bar pouring sipfuls of various vinos and providing a soundbite of information on each. The room at Apriori is a bit more intimate, you receive more wine, better food (no stale "palette cleansing" crackers!), and most interesting to me was that you get much more explanation about the wines you're drinking and about wine in general. The aforementioned food is very well chosen, and just enough to keep one from drinking on an empty stomach but not so much that I wasn't still ready to eat at a nearby restaurant for dinner. There's a well curated selection of cheeses, salumi and fruit, all of which paired exquisitely with the wines.I generally favor red wine over white and roses, but in the spirit of tasting and testing, I tried some whites and a rose that were were surprisingly good, and we bought some bottles for ourselves and a gift. The price range is reasonable with several good options in the $24-28 range and a few higher end choices. The space is elegant yet informal, low key but also right in the heart of St. Helena. You can fit in some downtown shopping or dine at a nice restaurant before or after. I will definitely return with a group of friends.
