Our wine tasting was not good. Very expensive for what it offers. We waited a long time to be served between each wine. A bit of negligence from the attendant. They only offered a sip of each wine. Of all the ones served, we only liked two. Not worth it.

Hoping this was a one-off experience: the wine remains excellent but the service has declined.I am a wine club member at Clif Family Vineyards and have been a loyal customer for years, but my most recent visit to their tasting room left a sour taste.Their wine is delectable, and accessible price-wise, for the area. I am a huge fan of their Cima and Cold Springs Cabernets!My rating is a reflection of the most recent tasting room visit rather than the quality of the product. I joined Clif Family because they have a welcoming, adventurous and active community dedicated to organic farming practices and good wine.I made a seasonal tasting reservation to introduce my husband to their wines, as well as pick up my latest allocation. It was 2pm on a Friday, and upon arrival, there were about 10 guests already seated in the courtyard, while three employees unloaded wines behind the counter.The employees behind the counter were in the midst of unpacking and delayed in acknowledging us, so we waited for a minute or two for them to finish arranging bottles. When I checked in with the individual closest to the register, he directed us to his colleague who then proceeded to pass us off to yet another colleague until we were presented to a new hire with a dismissive "here is your 2pm."The new hire was gracious and friendly, and I enjoyed chatting with him and sharing my experience with Clif Family's wines. At the end of our tasting, I went back inside to pick up my allocation and was pointed towards a table that had a to-go wine carrier set up. Immediately I noticed there were only 4 bottles, when I knew I had ordered 6 bottles (the holidays are coming and I wanted to stock up). I told the employee I did not think that was my order, to which he responded that was "the allocation for my membership." I clarified that I always customize my shipments and add bottles to my orders, but had to pull up my confirmation email before he went to add the missing bottles to my allotment. Even after all that, I still came home with the incorrect honey (I ordered their spicy honey and was given their hibiscus honey instead).Overall, I was left disheartened by the experience.

Finally, after two years living in St Helena, I found my way inside. Actually came in for a cup of coffee and, as it happens here rather often, it turned into a wine tasting event :) Wines are not to my taste and yet, those are good wines. Nevertheless, it is a definite *****. Plase has a unique home like feel, nice set up outside, clean and fun. However, the best asset they have is their staff. Great and very welcoming team. Thank you, guys.

Stopped in for a tasting before a friend's wedding, and we were absolutely blown away by our experience here.First, the wine was delicious. The food was a perfect match. The ambience is relaxed and nice; just where you'd want to spend time. But the true standout was the service. Mickey led our tasting, and he shared his knowledge, passion, and suggestions with us. We had to jet to get to our wedding, but we did NOT want to leave. We'll be back, and he's why. (Ok, the EXCELLENT wine might help too). If you're in St. Helena, this is a must, and Mickey is the one.
Nice, casual vibe. Masculine energy and bar-like atmosphere. The wines were good. Sophia, the chef, did an excellent job pairing foods with the wines that we were served.I would recommend this winery for friends, but not for dates.

LOVED our experience. Amazing wine, food from the food truck, but best of all was Mickey our server/ wine tasting guru. He knew so much about the wine, and tailored pours to our preferences. Highly recommend! And try to get Mickey!

I work for a popular wine company and this was my first trip to wine country. Everyone was friendly and the food was delicious. Of course the wine was phenomenal, but it was the service that blew my group of friends away. Five star service! I attended a wedding with friends and we dropped by Clif Family Winery for a tasting before rushing off to the ceremony. Our server/sommelier, Mickey, was both attentive and extremely knowledgeable. He led us through our wine tasting, and recommended some of his own favorite bottles. Sadly we were short on time and couldn't stay longer. We pledged to return the next day, but realized our flight home was much earlier than we remembered. We will be returning to this winery though when we can! If you're in St. Helena, this is a MUST on your list of places to visit. Ask for Mickey!

My friend and I had a very lovely time at Clif Family Winery. The moment you walk in you are greeted with a friendly smile and a hello. We did our tasting in the Enoteca it was simply beautiful. After we sipped espresso on the patio outside the main tasting room. Definitely visit this winery if you live in the area or you're visiting it will quickly become a favorite.
