The best restaurant on town… Thanks guys..

The food here is fairly average — it’s the kind of place where it feels like something is better than nothing. What made the experience less enjoyable was a senior staff member who seemed more focused on airing personal political opinions, rather than attending to customers. Conversations like these can be off-putting, especially when they overshadow the service. It would be great to see more attentive and professional staffing in the future; otherwise, the customer experience may continue to suffer.

Terrible Experience - Not Authentic Indian Cuisine
My recent visit to [Restaurant Name - Avatar Indian Grill in Salinas ca , was incredibly disappointing. As someone looking for authentic Indian food, I was shocked by the quality and taste of the dishes served.
I ordered the butter chicken biryani, and what I received was essentially fried rice with tandoori chicken. It bore no resemblance to a traditional biryani and was a complete misrepresentation of the dish. My husband's lamb was incredibly chewy, and the potatoes accompanying it were undercooked and hard.
Even seemingly simple items like the roti were tough and difficult to bite, suggesting they were either stale or poorly prepared. While the momos were acceptable, they weren't enough to salvage the meal.
Overall, the food tasted artificial and lacked any of the rich, authentic flavors you'd expect from Indian cuisine. It truly felt like a cheap imitation rather than a genuine culinary experience. I would never recommend this restaurant and will certainly not be returning. The food was simply terrible.

As someone who grew up in San Jose eating Indian food quite often this place compares well to the restaurants out there and definitely satisfies me when i’m craving Indian. The owner is just the sweetest old man and always hooks me up with a free mango lassi. I definitely recommend this spot for good indian cuisine!

Nice people. Good food. Understaffed for a Friday night. Service was slow but one old guy who was nice. DoorDash were waiting though. Food was pretty good. Especially the Tika masala. So glad to have found Indian food in Salinas. We will be back.

This is a great little hole in the wall place, you can tell it's a small staff and there will be a bit of a wait but I promise you it's well worth it for some damn good food. Idk who in their right mind is leaving bad reviews. Don't have any photos because all the food is gone

Disappointing momos—stale, bland, and overpriced at $16. Worst momos, I have ever had. Not worth it!

It was an average average experience dining in Salinas for lunch. Older gentleman waiter couldn't communicate in english adequately, so I stopped trying. Food was okay🤷 What made it worse, somebody started cleaning with Clorox scented cleaner in the kitchen area and it stunk up the whole dining area, prompting me to stop eating and take the remainder home. Lamb korma was kind of congealed, not hot and creamy.

Our food was cooked fresh and very tasty. Nice serving sizes. The Nan bread with cilantro was superb. Great menu. We had the curry chicken and it was top notch. We always enjoy Indian food. The owner was a very nice man too!
