Stopped for coffee and had a delicious cinnamon coffee creation and fresh flavorful empanada. The decorations are so fun! The vibe is super mellow. Definitely fun to go to this small business as opposed to big biz across the street. **thx for having compostable containers**

Loved the location, decor and service. It is a very inviting place and staff was also so welcoming. There were a few customers at the same time as me and I thought service was still fast enough, for me. I had the Dino Coffee Latte and I give it a 10/10. For any coffee and pistachio lovers THIS is for you! I am definitely returning for this specifically. My husband had the Mocha Latte, he said he would also have it again. Of course, I tried his too and I liked it BUT the Dino Latte was better in my opinion. We had the banana bread and It was good, definitely have it warmed up it was good nice and warm. I have been hearing great things about the empanadas, I plan to go back to have these. I will update my review once I do :)

The look of this place is great. We loved the whole concept and the atmosphere is very attractive. They told us they just opened and their menu is still a work in progress, but they are sailing pretty well given that they just reopened. I'm glad locals invest in their community. This place is beautiful and we are happy you are in Salinas. My granddaughter had the Bliss Latte that came with cotton candy. It was perfectly blended, not at all sweet. He enjoyed it along with his heart-shaped pancakes. I had the café de roca which was AMAZING. I recommend this. We also tried their lavender matcha and it was great. I had mine with soy milk.Overall, I recommend this place. The music in this place reminds me of a cafe in Mexico City. I will be back in the future to try more menu options.Dietary restrictions: I can't drink milk and having different options is great for me. They have soy, coconut, almond, and oats.Kid-friendliness: They have drinks for children. My granddaughter loved the place.

Love the vibe and the atmosphere at Karnaval. It’s inviting and warm. I adore all of the displays and the color. The neon signs are my favorite in particular. The food is great. The empanadas are amazing in particular. You can’t go wrong with the avocado toast either. The pizza’s are delicious! The drinks have a personality of their own.

The avocado toast is a must have at this place! It's delicious! Not to mention the empanadas "beans with meat." This one is exclusive! The coffee menu has a great selection! You must definitely come in to try their unique coffees! One of my favorites is the Dino! I also like their matcha strawberry! Yummy! The service is great! Marlene always has a great smile on! Steven always working hard to make sure his service is prompt. Wait time is normal! The environment is great! It's calm, bright, and peaceful! You can come and read a book, drink coffee, eat, enjoy great music, and over great conversations! I love this place! It has a different touch here in old town Salinas! I strongly recommend you stop by!

Karnaval 2.0 ( the relaunch) seemed promising. They advertised a smaller menu with exciting drinks. The space is still cute. Colorful and lots to look at.The drinks menu was extensive. They are operating their coffee orders using an at home espresso machine so it does take quite a while to get coffee based drinks. We got the Strawberry matcha. It did not taste like matcha and it only tasted like milk. We also tried one of their “must try” drinks- Bliss Late. It was so sugary and it didn’t even taste like dragon fruit. The space is super small so if more than 5 people are in there at a time it can feel really crowded.Overall I would not return. I understand it’s a new restaurant so you can tell they’re trying to find their footing ( fruit being rinsed on the spot and food being prepared without gloves and no handwashing in between orders ) but I think they would benefit from finding their niche one that goes beyond their decoration.

What's up with those neon signs? Very appropriate for the youth.

Instagramability : 10/10The place is beautifully decorated with a lot of quirky vibes! Everywhere you looked you could find something unique to see. You could tell it was conceptualized to be a unique cafe. In that sense it was great! Ambiance : 5/10 The moment we walked in the workers looked stressed. We weren't greeted immediately as the three workers there were busy making orders. Once we did order the environment fell off. The tvs were the only think we could hear, and they were playing sports. It made for a very confusing environment. There is also very limited seating. The ambiance felt off. Food : 2/10 The menu is creative but the food does not back it up in flavor. The toast was thin and with all the toppings on the top it became soggy. The Saunderson sandwich was nothing special, just salmon cream cheese, cucumber and sprouts. At the end of our meal we felt off and not satisfied with the food. We really wanted to like this place but the food feels lost. Feels like the restaurant was conceptualized with the decor in mind and not so much the food. I will give it the benefit of the doubt that they're just starting out. I'm looking forward to returning in a few months. Maybe they will be past the growing pains of a new establishment. But for now, I'll give them two starts.
