One of the wineries worth checking out on River Road!
Danielle and Julia were a delight, very hospitable and knowledgeable about some great wines
Pulled into Odonata Winery in Salinas twenty minutes before closing. Normally, that’s the hour when tasting rooms tighten up and smiles fade. Not here. Julia greeted us like it was opening time — calm, unhurried, fully present.
The wines hit different. The sparkling had backbone, the reds carried weight without shouting, and the brandy—smooth but with a quiet burn that reminds you where you are. It’s the kind of lineup that could sit comfortably on a Napa shelf, just without the attitude or the markup.
There’s an honesty to this place. You taste it in the glass and feel it in how they treat you. We left with bottles, a membership, and a few photos Julia snapped — not posed, just moments.
Odonata doesn’t perform hospitality. It lives it.
I’m not a review type person. Our experience at Odonata was exceptional! The wine was fantastic but the experience was multiplied exponentially by our host Daniella, who was so knowledgeable, personable and engaging. Daniella took time to explain the wines, varietals and differences. Daniella took us behind the scenes and explained how things worked. It was truly a great experience!
We absolutely adore this winery. The servers are super friendly and the wines are great with a large selection including a Gamay Noir which is chilled and it's a red that is one of our favorites. It's one of your first stops on the River road wine trail going from north to south and it is not too far from the coast so it stays fairly mild in the summer when it's hot (over 70). They also have some great cheeses in the refrigerator section along with charcuterie and different drinks that you can enjoy besides their great wines. They also have two different types of Brandy which are fun to try and drink if you get a bottle to go. There's plenty of seating bocce ball and a fire pit with seating around it. Thanks and we'll see you on the wine side...
I dont know much about wines and they were so kind and patient with me. Thanks so much for my first wine experience!
Great vibes!
Odonata wines was a perfect place to come on a wine tasting, on any day of the week, the selection they have curated will have you celebrating the amazing variety that only the Central Valley can create, shout to Daniella for her in depth and thoughtful introductions for all the wines! Come visit Odonata wines, you will not regret it.
Outstanding wines and staff. Highly recommend. New varietals now in stock. Always new wines coming out. You won't find any other winery with this many varietals to taste.
Great wine tasting! Nice terras to sit outside and enjoy the peace whilst sipping on lovely wines.
They gave a mix of red and white which were all enjoyed, great value too.
If we were in the area again we would visit

These wines are interesting to try. Sparkling white is very good. People loved the red sparkling wine. Syrahs very good. Sauvignon Blanc smells like New Zealand but tastes like old world and that was interesting. Id go back.
Fantastic spot, wine was out of this world especially the sparkling grenache 👀. Lots of space outside in the sun and the furry friends like it to. Also there is a decent selection of nibblies and snacks to nosh on. The tasting was a super selection across the varietals. The staff was fantastic - could not have asked for a better afternoon. Definitely stop - better yet make it your destination. 🥰
Great experience. The lady at the counter gave us amazing samples to try and we purchased an amazing bottle of wine. Our family loved it. I loved their sweetest wine which goes crazily well with dessert. They have quite a few collections of snacks like cheese, chips and other merchandise. Purchased 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon- it was amazing - it’s from Santa Cruz vineyard.
Good vibes, good music, good wine, big crowd. But only one bathroom, long line to use it. Specialy when you're selling wine, you're going to use the bathroom more.
They need to fine a solution when you have a big crowd.
Excellent wines, great service, beautiful scenery, great parking options!
