Kind of a crazy experience trying to put a deposit down for my daughters birthday cake. Had some flamboyant clothes on and rode up on my bike with the kids in a tag along. Whomever was at the counter was still working with someone and speaking in Spanish. They didn’t acknowledge me so I just waited. After nodding at me and laughing with the other customers he asked me what I wanted. After I let him know I was there to put down a deposit on an order his whole demeanor changed and he realized he was dealing with a customer. Even the folks he was working with had their eyebrows hit their hairlines. He seemed to do some verbal gymnastics to try and cover the giant hiss that he made when he realized and told me both that the person ahead of me bought the last cake for Saturday(on Wednesday) and that the cake discussed with my wife was too complicated and they couldn’t help me. But he had discussed the cake with my wife and I was here to pay the deposit?Was so mystified and insulted by the encounter I just packed up the kids and left without saying much.As a new member of the community it was wild to purposely pick a neighborhood place just to get worse treatment than a chain.

I forgot to leave a review after receiving my daughters birthday cake. It was 2 weeks before her party & I had tried a different cake shop in the area to do the Pokémon cake I was requesting but said they couldn’t do it because apparently they don’t use fondant. So then I was searching google for nearby cake shops & came across the Royal Bakery. The cake came out amazing & we all fell in love! I showed a picture of what I had wanted, he was honest & gave suggestions about the cake: using fondant vs frosting of the cake I was requesting. He knows what he’s doing when it comes to his work & I really appreciated his kindness & effort to ensuring the cake came out perfectly for my daughters birthday. Definitely coming back for future cakes 10/10 :)

I had grate service and the strawberry cake was truly delicious, I highly recommend this place. The owner showed me a book showing the different types of designed he could make and also said that if I had a special request on the design to show it to him and he could make it.
Best cake in Salinas! The cake you would eat at an expensive restaurant!! Would recommend and continue to support this local bakery.
