Divine food from a true American establishment. Cannot go wrong and guess what the meat is REAL!! to those who are skeptical from the bay area. Tip top!!

I'm glad I waited on this review. I've been four times since they opened at the South Main location. 1st visit was years ago and was so disappointing I never went back. However my sister always raves about their beans and ribs and orders to go frequently. So I decided to give it another try. So happy I did. The service is friendly and prompt! The steaks and ribs have been great. The beans have been very good two of three times we've been back. And the blue cheese dressing is outstanding! It's the only place I will ear the entire iceberg salad! (Being from Salinas doesn't mean you have to love iceberg lettuce.) A small suggestion/request (from sis and me); put ketchup, and bbq sauce back on the table with a spicy option. And be a little more generous with the side of beans (at least more than a condiment size ramekin)! I think I would be more apt to drive from PG to dine there and my sis would frequent more for those two small changes! You have such limited staff and to see them running around to grab sauce and ketchup for most every table served in plastic waste is wrong and wasted time and energy for your staff.

I'm not quite sure why some people are so critical and had such bad food and experiences?? I've been eating here way back when they were on Market Street! I've had some overcooked steaks in the past but the staff was always ready to rectify the problem and replace the steak. Too many people order their beef medium or well done....BIG MISTAKE! It always comes out dry and tough in ANY restaurant. At least go medium rare!! For juicy steaks. I love their large mugs of beer! 3 of these and you should call a cab. The staff has always been fantastic and helpful for me.....all of them! The restaurant is always clean and great smelling with all the meat being cooked. I'm sorry some people have had bad food or not so great service, but I've just never experienced that. I'm also very friendly and a huge tipper, it helps people. These people are trying to make a living just like you are, give them a chance and speak up, without being mean or condescending, I promise they will help you as much as possible.

I've been to Smalleys about 5 or 6 times. And enjoyed each time. Today my friend and I went to celebrate a special occasion. We were served our drinks in plastic cups with cracks in them. While my friend was eating her salad, a small bug came out on the bowl. I told her to take a picture she said she tried but it went back into the salad. When I brought it to the waitresses attention, with no apologies, she just asked if my friend just wanted another salad. We got up and told her that we were leaving. Needless to say I won't be back again

Great service and great food and never had to wait for a table. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves barbecue style food
We have been going here since they were located on Market St. We went the other night and when we sat down and looked at how much the prices had gone up we were shocked but stayed and enjoyed our meals. The service is always great but the prices do not match the quality. The restaurant is dirty, the salt and pepper shakers were really gross so bad I didn't touch them. We went to Costco and bought our own ribeyes and potatoes and we will eat at home.

I love this place! It's my favorite place to eat. The food is really good, my favorite meal is the grandma's. Waiter is really nice and kind. Tri-tip tastes amazing! The fries are good and the Chilli is too.

I agree Smalley's was very good when they were on Market Street. It has gone downhill since relocating to South Main St. They are quick to get your order, but I believe it is because they have prepared food sitting out for a long time. They don't have the customers they had years ago, so there is never a wait for your food. I once ordered and got real sick from eating their beans. The meat is tough as well as their chicken. It looks like they soak it with bbq sauce after they cook the meat for a long time. It appears as though they cook a batch and then just reheat it. Last week my granddaughter ordered a root beer float. She said it looked like freezer burn ice cream. What does a young person know, so she ate it anyway. Well, few hours later she got real sick. We believe it was food poisoning from the root beer float ice cream. We will never go back to the restaurant. It is sad because we don't have many restaurants on South Main and they were once known for the best bbq food!
