I ordered the lasagna and it was not very delicious. There weren’t any lasagna pasta noodles, but instead, maybe a piece of zuchinni on the bottom of a bite I shared with my husband. It was not real hot and flavorless. Mostly ground beef and I think cheddar cheese? The side veggies were to be al dente, but were mushy carrots, broccoli and squash which reminded me of frozen mixed vegetables. The confetti soup was really good and especially on a really wet rainy day. The rolls were cheap white rolls, the kind you woukd serve at Thanksgiving to sop gravy or stuff with cranberries. The Beer list was limited as I prefer an IPA, so went with the closest, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I actually liked it. My husband likes an amber, so the closest was the John Steinbeck choice, carta blanca! Really good tasting beer. My husband ordered the roasted chicken, brie, pear sandwhich which was a bit greasy from grilling in a skillet. He didn’t enjoy it that much. The fruit garnishes of grapes, watermelon slice and orange slice were of good quality. The water glasses had ice and lemons in the glasses which was refreshing. Service was great. The gift shop downstairs was a dissapointment because there was not that much “ John Steinbeck “ swag to purchase. I am glad we stopped here but once is enough.
Beautiful historic home.

I love this restaurant very cozy and the history amazing
We stopped in for a lovely lunch and learned quite a lot about the house. We had the chicken apple and Brie sandwich with soup and it was delicious and a good value. The service was very friendly.
The food was home-like and delicious. Everybody was super nice and friendly. The restaurant was cozy and atmospheric.
The chef is a professional, but the staff all volunteer. You can tell they all love their jobs.
I have taken over a dozen people, and all have returned on their own. There is a fixed menu, plus at least three special items presented every week.
It is hidden in plain sight among the Victorian houses, a couple of blocks from restored Old Town.
The Steinbeck House served excellent food! The wait staff was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this restaurant as a place for delicious cuisine amid a historic ambiance.

Friendly young ladies welcome you like family. I love them all! Food is great- the rolls are finely baked, creamy lettuce soup is to die for, and the creme brulee is just superb!
The store boasts of rare finds- books from the 1930s, an embroidered autographed cap. Glad I stopped by to see the house.
