After hearing numerous recommendations, I decided to give this spot a try. A tip for future diners: arriving after 6:30pm on weekends may result in a wait.Upon arrival, I noticed the host seemed a bit new, but she managed to get my name down efficiently. Our server was quick and friendly, recommending a delightful appetizer with cheese and assorted meats, which turned out to be a great choice. For my main dish, I opted for the shrimp enchiladas. While the presentation was impressive, the sauce was a bit overpowering, and the flavor of the enchiladas fell short of expectations.Overall, the dining experience was pleasant, and I would suggest visiting this restaurant for those interested in gourmet Mexican cuisine.

This place in its photos and website promises a lot but in reality it is nothing like thatThe food was salty, the waitress didn't know the information about the dishes, but well the decoration is very good. And the micheladas are a disaster.

This restaurant never disappoints! Their ribeye guacamole and micheladas are a delicious way to start the meal! Their elevated plates on Mexican comfort food are a must try if you’re in town.

Villa Azteca was delicious. There was no wait on a Saturday afternoon for a party of 2. We ordered the carnitas enchiladas, mole Amarillo, and arroz con leche for dessert. Everything tasted great, the carnitas were really tasty and had some meat cooked on the crunchier side just how I like it. The steak on the mole Amarillo was requested “well done” so it was also on the crunchier side as well, next time we’ll order medium well. The arroz con leche hit the spot for that sweet tooth. I gave 4 stars because they charged $1.99 for chips and salsa, something they should have been transparent about when they bring them to the table.

I don’t know who these wanna be Gordan Ramsay food critics are… but this place is 5 stars. The food was fresh, flavorful, filling without being greasy. It was unique and has a lovely atmosphere. It was recommended by friend and we were thrilled with our dinner. My husband had ribeye and I had the salmon and butternut squash dish and corn pudding for dessert. It was great! Already excited for our next visit to try other items.

Stop what you’re doing and go to Villa Azteca and order the Mole Amarillo.I popped in because my Amtrak was delayed and was treated to one of the most exquisite meals of my life. Friendly service, mellow kinda-upscale-but-not-pretentious vibe. Also excellent salsa with the chips.

Service was great! I wasn't sure what to get and our server gave me great recommendations. I ordered the Chile relleno with squash (vegetarian option) and I was surprised to find it wasn't actually battered/fried like a regular Chile relleno, nor did it have squash. I wasn't a huge fan but honestly I'd go back for their salsa, which is amazing! The salsa carries the score.Vegetarian options: There are 3 vegetarian options and none of them were very exciting, especially considering the cost. I got the Chile relleno with squash and it didn't have squash ??‍♀️

I’ve been pleased with the food and service in the past so I keep coming back. However my last two experiences here have not been so great. Truthfully food was mediocre definitely not worth the price. Service was not that great either. Overhyped and overpriced.

I've been here three times and have been very impressed each time. The service is excellent and people nice. The food...the food is sooo good and the presentation is beautiful. I had the Rio Negro this evening and LOVED it! Prices are reasonable and the food and service are excellent. Run, don't walk to Villa Azteca

Randomly stopped here while passing through town. This place completely exceeded our expectations. The food is INCREDIBLE and the service was on point. I never come to Salinas but I would go out of my way just to come back to this restaurant.

Came with high expectations and boy was I served!!! Service was great, attention to detail! Me and my comadre ordered the bone marrow appetizer AMAZING! Such great flavor, the bone marrow was cooked perfectly, the sope it comes with had delicious black beans, so yum! I ordered the chicken mole because I heard great things and comes with handmade tortillas de maíz. Mole was spicy and sweet perfect balance, and my friend ordered the shrimp tacos, also full of flavor! Their salsa is so good with their chips! Def coming back soon!
