Absolutely love this hidden gem! Me and my family come for karaoke every Wednesday night and have an amazing time! I wish more people knew about this place!

This establishment provided a wonderful stay. Our second visit was equally enjoyable, and we eagerly anticipate a return trip.

Recently had a fantastic stay at Humboldt Bay Social Club. Their set up is so cozy and homey and still amazing design quality. BEST GF/DF tuna melt I have ever had. The new sauna is HOT and euphoric. Also got a in room massage and that really set the town for the day! Comfy beds, killer amenities, fun staff, and fresh sea air.

Rooms are somewhat primitive, but nice. Well stocked with snacks and a great beach cart with chairs, a cooler, blanket and bucket for collecting whatever. The social club has fantastic grill kits of burgers, dogs, or oysters. Staff was welcoming and made the visit great. A fantastic get away!

My plans fell through for my fifty birthday. So I decided to do something local. I am so glad I did. This place is very special. Tucked in next to the ocean and Oyster beach. Just a short hike to the ocean from your room. All the rooms come with a soaking tub. Each room comes with everything you to unplug, unwind, and relax. They offer massages and a cedar sauna. I highly recommend doing both. So many cute little nooks with fire pits or gas fire places to get cozy around. It's kid friendly and dog friendly. They offer food but you can bring your own and buy a grilling kit. This place will heal your soul. Book now because they only offer 4 suites.

I came up for a couple of days to just unwind at the beach. I called in advance to consult about which room would be best to accommodate me and my small dog and was given a great recommendation and a quick booking process over the phone.
The room was great and the service was even better. Solveig was a warm host with expert local knowledge, a no-fuss demeanor, and a great conversationalist and bartender.
The beach is within walking distance and added the perfect sunset to my already great trip.
Highly recommend the HBSC if you need a relaxing getaway with great service.

DONT STAY HERE!

I wish I would have read more reviews, especially the ones on trip advisor.

I booked a room here during the holidays, unfortunately I had to cancel. But that’s when I found out this place is more like an Airbnb set up, no receptionist, just a lock box.
The problem with this is that still today, 2 weeks later I haven’t been able to get a hold of anyone. I’ve left at least 6 voice messages and emails and still haven’t heard back.
The hotel charged my card and although I tried canceling 7 days before the day I was supposed to arrive since no one ever got back to me, the reservation was never canceled. No one has contacted me to solve the issue, that means I had to despute the hotel charges with my bank. I’m still waiting to see if I will get my money back.
I tried calling today again and just noticed they removed their contact number.

I find all this very unprofessional and feel like this is their way of taking people’s money. Just be warned. If you book this place and something comes up, you will not be able to get a hold of anyone.

I LOVED my stay here. The rooms are so well thought-out and beautiful. The snacks and drinks for sale in the rooms were reasonably priced and well chosen options. The location is on the beach but private and still near Eureka Downtown AND Arcata downtown. The staff in the bar are friendly and there is a cute space with a gift shop full of locally made gems. I'll definitely be back!

Rooms: Rooms are beautiful, comfortable and well thought out.

Walkability: Walkability to the beach but that's it.

Absolutely love this place - I've only stayed on the Oyster Bay side (by the bay) so far but of course have hung out at the lobby bar and restaurant, the outside space, hangar etc. All in all it's just a fantastic space to stay while enjoying Humboldt, whether for a brief trip or a longer term gig. Private (bay) beach access combined with being directly next to the ocean beach is just something truly special. I lived in Humboldt for 30 years and didn't actually come back to visit all that often until I discovered HSBC - now I wish I could just live there. :)

The spaces are amazing, all just beautifully put together and maintained, and the food/drinks are fabulous - really enjoyed Kara in particular at the bar, and they have a great selection (I'm a big fan of the charcuterie boards). I know Oyster Bay is going to monthly only here shortly - county regs, I believe, out of their control! - so I'll have to come back and stay at "the club" next time. Highly recommend, no matter what brings you to town.

Overall the facilities are ok. The outside bathing tubs are a nice gimmick. The experience with the customer service and communication was really bad. Not responding to messages. Would not recommend as there is no help if urgent matters occur.

Stayed at the Humboldt bay club and I absolutely love it.
The host Niki was awesome, great laid back location.
I will definitely be going back in the future.
Love HUMBOLDT COUNTY absolutely awesome vacation.

Safety: Very isolated area so very little traffic.

Food and drinks: Great bar and the grilled oysters were amazing.

We held our wedding ceremony at Oyster Beach and the reception at the Hangar at the Humboldt Bay Social Club and everything was delightful. The place is rather isolated and rustic - a historic navy airfield among the dunes. The nearby drag strip was loud at times, but did not interfere with our activities. We stayed at the suites and put up our families in the nearby cabins. It was affordable and delightful, and everyone had a great time.

The staff were especially helpful, and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and our event a success. They really went above and beyond. I look forward to staying there again and trying the oysters!

To call this place a hotel is a long stretch. The photos look amazing but it’s completely a very isolated and run down motel in the middle of an airstrip attached to a dive bar. You drive through logging factories to get there. No beach in sight. We were a bit confused as the listing told of beachy rustic and cute accomodations. But we ended up in a dusty gravel parking lot with a one story military barracks with peeling paint and a few cars. Overhead there was an airplane doing tricks. Super loud. Our ā€œsuiteā€ was right by the road and it had a rusty cart with rusty chairs by the front door. We thought someone was int there. But it was theirā€ amenities. ā€œ The room was nicely decorated but the location was creepy with Bates Motel vibes. We promptly left and contacted the host who refused to refund our payment despite the reservation being made just an hour before. We found accommodations closer in town and would recommend others do as well.

UPDATE: Thank you for the refund. Still awaiting it. I do suggest you update your photos and listing and tell people the exact condition and location of your property. It is not a hotel. There is a difference between rustic and rusty. Yours is rusty, dusty annd noisy. And it’s not nice.
