Insalata's is usually stellar, and I have never been disppointed. We were there to celebrate a birthday and this time was a very dissapointing exception. We were seated on the main floor in the side room, the noise level made it difficult to have a relaxed conversation, the wait person was stressed and gave utterly poor service. We constantly had to make requests: one of us spilled water on the table and on ourselves. When it was brought to her attention, she appropriaely said she would get us some napkins immediately. She forgot and had to be flagged down. This was a good 10 minutes later. She also had to be flagged down not only to bring us the check, but to then circle back so that she could process the payment. It was a drag. The food was unexceptional (I had the flounder).

What a lovely night that started with the great hostess that greeted us at the front got us a seat earlier than our reservation. The server we had was cheerful and able to juggle everything thrown at her even though it was extremely busy. Keep smiling!! The support staff was quick to turn over the tables and refill our water. The tables were nicely spaced so I didn't feel crowded. The food was delicious and beautifully curated.

Great food, outstanding Veggie tagline, delightful crispyy eggplant fries, gracious service and a good value.

Possibly one of the best restaurants in Marin. Fabulous food, great wine selection, fun surroundings, great people watching.

Service is excellent and every dish we tasted was perfect. I had the muscles and the sauce was exquisite. I just wish I could have had bread to soak it up.

Insalata is a wonderful local restaurant in San Anselmo CA that features great Mediterranean food that is very fresh, delicious, and creative! The amount of food on the plate was very generous! The ambiance is spacious and light but a little noisy. Our waitress was quite friendly! I highly recommend Insalata!

The fatoush salad with salmon is one tasty and generous salad. The ambience is welcoming. The staff moral is high, the service is efficient and warm and empathic. One of the best restaurants in Marin County.

All aspects of special birthday dinner were excellent. Reservation time was ready, Noise level low for area in which we were seated. Waiter Brian recommendations were spot on, 3 of us had delicious and beautifully prepared lamb chops, one had delicious vegan entree. Evening soup special was fabulous, able to split fattoush salad perfect blend of fresh herbs, Cheesecake dessert was personalized by scripted chocolate “ happy birthday “ on plate. We all had a beautiful evening. No question, that we WILL return. Professional staff, gourmet cuisine, pleasant ambiance, tho totally full, timely delivery of warm plated main courses. We did bring 2 special wines for which we paid the expected corkage fees. Always appreciate water carafe on table. Only thing I would have liked would be a fresh flower on the table.

Six girlfriends enjoyed dinner after a Marin symphony concert. We had the eggplant fries and hummus to start and gnocchi, salon, Lamb burger or salads to eat. All the food was delicious as was the wine. We had a wonderful round table tucked away in the back of the restaurant. We all thought it deserved 5 stars.

My steak was NUKED. It was charred so bad that the food on the rest of the plate tasted like smoke. I informed the server, she nodded and went back to the kitchen. She never came back with a response/resolution. We paid and left. This was my birthday dinner.

Went here for my birthday dinner. It was a busy Friday night but we were seated promptly. They did a nice job acknowledging my birthday and made me feel special. We enjoyed our appetizers of eggplant fries and focaccia with whipped feta. Unfortunately I chose the Ling Cod for dinner and it was inedible. Super dry, turned to dust in my mouth. I have never refused an entree before but I sent this one back. My server was so apologetic and brought us a free dessert and comped the entree. She did right by us and it helped to make up for the lousy dinner entree. My husband enjoyed the pork chop and my son had the gnocchi and said it was good. I ate some of both of their meals and was satisfied as the portions are quite large.

Insalata's is our go-to favorite for a night out! We drive from Novato, so it's a commitment.
