I was expecting Michelin magic and for most of the meal it delivered. The ribeye was on point, and the panna cotta was unreal. One or two didn't wow me but overall, still a place I recommend if you're wanting something special in Marin

I’m no youngster and have eaten in a lot of restaurants in a lot of cities and countries, and this is the best meal we have had in my entire life. We chose the eight course meal, with a bottle of champagne. We were asked if we wanted to include a special entrée for an additional charge, but I’m really glad we didn’t as the eight courses were more than enough for us. I especially enjoyed the quail, but every single course was amazing and exceptional. The combination of ingredients, the sauces, the preparation, and the presentation – all just so perfect and a delicious treat for the senses (at least tase, aroma, texture and visual appeal). The restaurant also provided us with some dessert items to go, as an unexpected added treat. It’s not cheap, but well worth the price if you are in the mood for an exceptional culinary experience

Had an incredible time at Madcap! Enjoyed every course on the tasting menu. A few standouts: the Jidori egg with pistachio was so tasty, the dry-aged Flannery steak was insanely good, and the apricot cake with basil ice cream was the perfect way to end. Definitely coming back and already looking forward to the next menu.

The entire experience starting with the door and entry and through the 11 courses was delicious. The courses were so perfectly sequenced and they included several types of seafood, duck and ribeye to name a few. You must experience what he does with these ingredients. The environment was lovely - lower lighting - gorgeous artwork - and I enjoyed the dishes, flatware and stemware. All of it together delighted our senses.

Dining at this one-star Michelin gem promises a journey through high-quality, delicious fare. We tried the chef's eleven-course menu, and while the food was undeniably tasty, showcasing the chef's talent across diverse dishes, the courses lacked a clear progression. While each course stood out in its own right, the cohesion from start to finish was lacking, leaving a disjointed narrative. A progression from seafood to steak felt abrupt rather than a harmonious exploration. The bread, surprisingly cold, fell short of expectations, and the attempt to fix it with a butter-fried alternative missed the mark. Nevertheless, service was great, but for a Michelin star, I expected a bit more coherence in the menu.

Madcap is a true gem in Marin. The menu is thoughtful and beautifully executed—each course a work of art that balances flavor, texture, and presentation. The atmosphere is intimate yet unpretentious, and the service is warm and knowledgeable without being overbearing. It’s no surprise they’ve earned Michelin recognition—every detail reflects a deep passion for food and hospitality. An unforgettable dining experience. Thanks Chef Ron!

This place was great. My wife and I were blown away by all of the first 7 or so dishes and the wine… overalll, great experience, I’d come back in a years time for sure and bring others.

You can feel the family owned vibe and their care put into the dishes.
