About Gintei Japanese restaurant
Gintei Japanese restaurant Reviews
very good and fresh food for lunch
The real deal. A true Japanese sushi restaurant and a gem of a place hidden in San Bruno on the outskirts of San Francisco
Unreal omasake. The price goes mostly to the fresh fish, not rent!
Menu
Gintei Japanese restaurant is a classy sushi place with a simple Japanese decor and intimate ambience. The omakase set is a must-try, featuring fresh sushi pieces selected by the chef at reasonable prices. The sweet shrimp and amber jack are favorites, while the flown-in from Japan Otoro and Wagyu A5 torched nigiri are also highly recommended. The sashimi tasting plate is fabulous, showcasing a variety of fresh fish, including toro. The sake flight pairs well with the set, offering options from sweet to dry. Although parking can be a challenge, the service is attentive and knowledgeable, with staff explaining each fish and garnish when asked. Some customers noted that the service was good but occasionally sparse, as there is only one server for the dining room. Specialty rolls are excellent, and the food is spectacularly fresh. Overall, Gintei is considered the best sushi spot in the area, ideal for special occasions or a sake-filled night out, though some diners mentioned a desire for all dishes to arrive at the same time when sharing.
