I'm a fan of this spot! It's family owned and run by a mother and daughter duo. The food here is very tasty and made with lots of heart. The ingredients used are always fresh and it comes through in the dishes. NO msg, just good ole cooking. In fact, the daughter shared with us that her mother will specifically select certain veggies depending on the season and quality to ensure that the best ingredients are used for her dishes! I really appreciate all the effort that's made. My family and I always come here when we're looking for some clean, healthy and simple comfort food. My favorite is the stir fry scrambled egg. Not sure how the cook does it, but the egg is so soft and smooth. It's cooked perfectly. The other dish we really enjoy is the steamed chicken. So juicy and simple but they get it right. They also give soup complimentary. The service here can be slow but they only have the mom cooking and daughter serving so be patient! Parking in the area isn't too difficult. They have a mini lot that is shared with the bar next door but if you get lucky, spots pop up occasionally otherwise you can find street parking easily.

I never write yelp reviews so I'll keep it simple. The food is okay, they give small portions if you order prawns and shrimp, they favor regular customers, and not everything on their menu is available to order. Overall don't come here.

I remember coming here as a kid many years back with my cousins after doing outdoor activities. I always wanted to taste the food here again, I finally had a chance to do so today. Their service was always welcoming and sincere.

This is not your typical Chinese Restaurant where you're served with MSG loaded food, or cheap fried rice or Noodles. Instead, this is a local family owned restaurant where the focus is on the traditional comfort food without the fancy display, no use of MSG; just good ingredients and made with lot of TLC. The Chef here works solo so if you're in a hurry this place won't work well as the dishes were prepared one at a time . All the food we have was done just perfect. Their soup of the day was done just right. Their Bitter Melon Egg, Garlic Crab, and Egg Plant was excellent.

Tasty without over doing the flavors like some Americanized versions of Chinese food.

Small family owned restaurant. Mother and daughter staffing the whole place. If you are hungry or impatience then this is not the place for you. The owner is the only one in the kitchen working and she puts pride to every dishes she serves. She takes her time to prepare the most flavorful, healthy dish to serve her customers. So if you are wanting fast service and cannot wait for great food, then I won't recommend this place for you. The food is beyond delicious. Even though it's not something extravagant but you can taste the effort and time the cook spends on the food. Everything tastes fresh and it's super healthy for Chinese food. My favorite is definitely the eggplant dish. I have not tried any other eggplant dishes that tastes so flavorful but yet seems so simple. It does not taste oily or salty like many other eggplant dish I have had. I will highly recommend North South if you really want some comfort food. No MSG or oily food served.

We had a very good dinner here. I'm vegetarian so I had the braised bean curd, baby Chinese broccoli, and egg with bitter melon. The rest of our crew liked the chicken wings, the steamed fish (sea bass?), and slow cooked braised duck. The place isn't fancy but seemed reasonably clean.

Terrible terrible terrible service!! TLDR: Don't come if you're not a regular because you risk getting your order thrown to the side and having to wait an hour for your food. We had a party of 3 and came in at 8 pm on a Sunday. There were a few other small tables and 1 large table already eating. We ordered and waited for our food - I could see that it's a small family operation with only 1 waitress and probably only a few people in the kitchen. 20 min AFTER we ordered, a party of 10 came in. They're obviously familiar with the owners because they went back to the kitchen to grab their own soup, plates, and wine glasses. 35 min have passed since we have ordered and 15 since the new large party sat down and their food starts coming out! Over the next 15 min, their food keeps coming out meanwhile we have had no food 1 HOUR after ordering. We asked the waitress when our food was coming out and she said "After their food is done coming out". I can understand that they're regular customers, I can understand that the restaurant has a small wait and kitchen staff, but are we not also paying customers?? They made the entire table of 10's order of food before even cooking our food, even though we had ordered 20 min before they even got there. This is Cantonese food, most of our dishes were stir fry's which would have taken 5 min to make. The food was good I'm not going to lie but if you come here, you risk having your order completely thrown to the side if their regulars come in; and the owners will not hesitate for a moment in doing so. There was zero consideration/sympathy for the fact that we had been waiting so long. The waitress was incredibly rude the whole time and would never give us the time of day. They obviously saw little value in us as customers. Not the way you want to be treated at a restaurant.
