What a wonderful experience. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I knew it would be a good experience. The staff was welcoming and so attentive. The food was delicious. I ordered the black squid ink noodles with mussels, clam, shrimp and scallops and it was perfectly prepared and cooked. Loved every bite and if I wasn't in SF for the rest of the week I would go back. A gem!

Service was not attentive. We sent back two cocktails which were simple old fashions. The wine list was ok. The appetizer of the skillet prawns was good but not Italian in origin which left us hopeful for the main courses. Both were from the specials list and absolutely terrible! The braised short rib ravioli was in a weird not tasty mushroom gravy and the seasonal mushroom risotto was undercooked and had zero flavor- no amount of extra salt and Parmesan helped. I wanted to like but the menu is not classic Italian nor regional Italian or even really Italian at all which connects with the decor which was dark, modern and more Japanese in aesthetic. Won't be likely to recommend or return.

Lovely and delicious dinner... excellent service and menu... ate in ourside area, which was heated well by the heaters and much quieter than inside, so higlhly recommend outside tables.

The pasta at Pranzi is fantastic. It's homemade (or so it seems) and tastes extremely fresh. I had the lasagna and it was very tasty. My friends had the spaghetti bolognese and the conchiglie, both were very happy with their dishes. The portion size is good, we all had leftovers. They bring you focaccia bread and oil/balsamic vinegar before your meal as well. The service was great. Great neighborhood spot on Laurel Street in San Carlos.

I wholeheartedly recommend Pranzi - it is my go-to celebration spot on Laurel Street - the food is delicious and portions generous, the staff are consistently on point and the atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming.

I must say that practically all of the food from the 3 out of the 4 entrees, appetizers and even the bread and olive oil with balsamic was very under seasoned. The risotto, bruschetta, shell pasta and even the bread left a lot to be desired. I had to add salt to most of the food and I never do that. The ambiance and interior was excellent. The service got high marks too. Presentation was great. Just the lack of flavor was the biggest downside.
