We did not like the taste of the salsa or sauces. They all had a different taste. Service was excellent and its a nice restaurant. My burrito just didn't taste good from the sauce on it. Funny tasting

Late post March 2024 3.5/5* Stumbuled upon Avila Restaurant while cruising downtown to my suprise it was Restaurant Week, Orange County Restaurant Week (OCRW) is a fantastic opportunity for food enthusiasts to explore various restaurants in O.C. offering prix-fixe menus at affordable prices. Avila's presented both lunch and dinner prix-fixe menus. Opting for crispy tacos and flautas, my partner and I enjoyed a meal that included homemade guacamole and chips, Mama Avila's chicken soup with broth, chicken, rice, pico de gallo, and avocado. Despite the generous servings of guacamole, which felt excessive since it was served both as an appetizer and with the main course, I would have preferred a non-fried option to showcase something unique during restaurant week. Nevertheless, our server Aurelio was great. The ambiance inside the restaurant was inviting, and the open doors let in the refreshing ocean breeze, keeping the dining area pleasantly cool. Outdoor seating, dog friendly!

FREE CHIPS AND SALSA!! Good start. I got the Baja bowl with chicken and despite there being a larger than life avocado on top I was deeply satisfied. This meal made me feel warmer than the fire pit I was sitting next to. I am leaving with a full stomach and a smile on my happy face. Would recommend to any Padres fans in need of cheering up after watching their favorite team lose again and again. 5 STARS!!

Incredible food delicious!! Service was fast and the waiters were super nice and helpful. Has a relaxed casual vibe. The portion sizes were good and the qualify of the food was one of the best I’ve ever had.

Food was ok. Ordered a crispy fish taco but it was not crispy however the fish tasted good. The fajita salad shrimps were over cooked.

Awesome food!! Been visiting (I’m from Chicago) since my daughters family moved to CA and discovered in 2008. I love the Mama Avila soup, very hearty and so delicious. There’s nothing that I’ve tried that I didn’t like. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!!

It's a bit pricey, but for the area, that's normal. We've been many times. Does not disappoint. We're San Diego Natives so we're pretty picky about our Mexican food. We love Avilas. Rice and beans rock!

Only place I go when I’m not wanting to cook Avila’s never lets me down?
Super shocked tonight. Food took over an hour, and one order was wrong, one order was frozen in the middle, and when we ask for manager he told server to tell us he was busy. Felt bad for server because it was the kitchen's fault not her but manager scolded her in front of her peers. Usually a place we go to enjoy a great meal, however tonight they truly lost a 14 year customer.

We went with a big crowd of our family and the service was great. The food is delicious. The atmosphere inside is always so beautiful. Being in San Clemente near all the shops also makes for an overall great location.
