Chaupain Bakery

At a time when inflation has driven even lame chain fast-food to premium prices, I find myself loving Chaupain bakery more and more. I truly feel like every dollar is well-spent here. Their pastries? Phenomenal, well-made and beautiful, with some of the smoothest pastry cream I've encountered. Their breakfasts? SO delicious, with great portion size. Highly recommend their bacon mushroom and leek quiche! Every time I've been here, staff have been quick and helpful. The only tricky part is finding a table haha, there's a reason this place is so popular!

This place has the best croissants, so crispy and delicious. I got the butter croissant, almond croissant and a mango and coconut pastry. They were all excellent. Their breakfast menu looks amazing as well. Try this place out if you are in San Clemente.

Staff is really warm and nice at Carlsbad’s farmers market! Love their bakery!! Everything is so delicious - I’ve been coming to the farmers market just for them.

NOT THE BEST ! My wife and I decided to try this cafe for a lunch sandwich not long back. It was very squeezy inside when we walked in to order at the counter. We ordered a California Club Sandwich ( fresh sliced turkey, crispy bacon, avocado, romaine lettuce, vine ripe tomatoes, pistachio pesto aioli served on fresh baked demi baguette ). We paid upfront and grabbed a table on the sidewalk...no indoor seating. After a few minutes a food runner brought out our lunch sandwich. We both agreed the sandwich was so so. TOO BAD !

I want to give a special shout out to Angus , a manager at the San Clemente Chaupain. I had preordered and prepaid for a full Quiche. Unfortunately, due to someone’s error, it was not ready as promised. Since it was specifically preordered in order to accommodate our guests, I was not exactly happy. Angus rose to the situation and graciously solved the dilemma.
As always, the food is excellent, but most impressive, the service proved itself exceptional. Mistakes always occur and are unfortunate; but what really distinguishes a quality operation are those extra steps that make things right. Thank you.

Chaupain is probably the best bakery in the area. The brioche bread is good, the quiches are good and the pastries in general are pretty good… and let me tell you they’re not lenient on butter.
